Some lemmings pause at the cliff

As Cenk, and numerous people on this forum have pointed out, there is a tsunami building behind Obama. Frank Rich of the NY Times also wrote an excellent column (you have to register for NYT) making this prediction. But we're partisan. What's more significant is that some conservatives are waking up.

Peggy Noonan has a scathing column this week on the state of the republican party. See what she has to say about the RNC:

"This was a real wakeup call for us," someone named Robert M. Duncan, who is chairman of the Republican National Committee, told the New York Times. This was after Mississippi. "We can't let the Democrats take our issues." And those issues would be? "We can't let them pretend to be conservatives," he continued. Why not? Republicans pretend to be conservative every day.

Ouch.

Read the whole column. It could have been written by an Obama supporter.

A little realism please?

Obama has slightly more than 50% of the Democratic vote.

Your hatred towards Hillary and her supporters is hurting your candidate.

Since you have already declared victory may I suggest a little humility?

Dancing on her grave just might lead to an Obama burial come November (something that neither one of us wants).

If you are all about Obama and a new style of politics, start practicing it.

he is talking about conservatives and you throw out your pro-Hillary anti-Obama talking points.

Oh but his last post was Anti-Hillary, so therefore you must troll all posts with anti-Obama rhetoric.

And you call Obama followers robots...

Have you been reading the posts here lately CD?

Fuck Hillary? bitch, whore, slut etc.

In fact some here have even suggested that people like me should just leave the party. You just don't need my vote. This is a new Dem party and I am not wanted (but please don't vote for McCain).

Last time I checked Hill has about 49% of the Dem vote. Can Obama win without the other half?

but you dont have to pander to it.

If you are somehow suggesting that in a general election that every single person that voted for Hillary will stay home. You would be mistaken.

I am not pandering to it I am just stating a fact. You have read the posts. You know of what I speak.
Donna Brazile said the same thing on CNN.

Gore lost because of how many rebel Dems?

I think we both can agree the Dem candidate needs every vote?

I'd never dance on her grave.  Dancing while urinating sounds too difficult and messy.  Then again, I've never tried.

I enjoyed the second one. The interview with Clarke Reed was right on the money.

I would suggest everyone (including Republicans from Texas with reading disabilities) read that because it is very enlightening.

It's not the war, and it's not the social issues, and it's not Unitary Executive constitutional theory.

The problem is worry over the economy and gas prices, and the GOP has very little control over the economy, and like I've said a million times since 2004, if the economy is perceived as poor in Oct 2008, the Dems will win.

As an aside, I'm currently bullish on the market and the economy. I'm buying on every down day. I think the rebound might come earlier than economists anticipate.

Bush was in Saudi, begging for relief on oil prices. If he can convice OPEC to increase production for the next 6 months, the Big Oil execs will support him at the pump.

Didn't you see who that was? That was Clarke Reed. The WSJ calls him "...one of the great architects of resurgent Republicanism in the South."

Here is another article about him from the NY Times.  What did they say about Mr. Reed? He is the "Father of the Southern Strategy" and "[Mr. Reed] Having more or less invented the modern Mississippi Republican Party; having helped mightily to establish a solidly Republican South, turning political reality on its head; having played pivotal roles in the nominations of Richard M. Nixon and Gerald R. Ford, having watched his protégé Haley Barbour rise to national party chairman and then to governor of Mississippi, he is attending his 11th convention."

In other words Ken, this man is the Karl Rove of the great redneck republican revolution and knows 200% more about southern politics then you and Limprod could ever hope too. I think I will take his word for it thank you very much.

What did he say when it comes to Bush?

"Mr. Bush has squandered the hard-built paternity of 40 years. But so has the party, and so have its leaders. If they had pushed away for serious reasons, they could have separated the party's fortunes from the president's. This would have left a painfully broken party, but they wouldn't be left with a ruined "brand," as they all say, speaking the language of marketing. And they speak that language because they are marketers, not thinkers. Not serious about policy. Not serious about ideas. And not serious about leadership, only followership."

Sound familiar?

What did he say about a solid Republican south?

"Is the Republican solid South over?

"Yeah. Oh yeah." He said, "I eat lunch every day at Buck's Cafe. Obama's picture is all over the wall.""

Ken, I have been warning you since I started posting here (along with old Regan and Bush 1 insiders who no longer recognize their own party) that this is the way it will turn out. Republicans have been voting against their constituants wishes for years now and bragging about it. It appears they have blown their foot clean off.
