Hagee's an anti-semite

If you didn't despise John Hagee before, you will after listening to this.

Yesterday I discovered an astonishing audio recording of a sermon, by controversial McCain endorser Pastor John Hagee, in which Hagee elaborates on his view that Hitler and the Nazis were divine agents sent by God to (with gruesome inefficiency it would seem) chase Europe's Jews towards Palestine. In his 2006 book "Jerusalem Countdown", Hagee proposed that anti-Semitism, and thus the Holocaust, was the fault of Jews themselves - the result of an age old divine curse incurred by the ancient Hebrews through worshiping idols and passed, down the ages, to all Jews now alive.

I would not call Hagee's comments anti-semitic, no where does he state he hates Jews. The use of the term "anti-semitism" is SO abused, and over-used that its becoming a red herring on its own. What Hagee was saying, ironically, was what the state of Israel and Zionism says: Jews need their own state, because if they do not they will suffer another holocaust. The only really controversial part of it, was justifying the holocaust from a religious perspective. Basically, here is where Hagee gets really offensive, suggesting the Jews that remained in Europe DESERVED the holocaust! Thats the REAL issue.

the destruction of Isreal and the death of all jews in order to bring about the end times.

What would you call it?

the book of revelations, this is Christian belief. At the end times all those who are not Christian will be given the choice to convert to Christianity o r burn in the hell-fire. He does not call for the  destruction of Jewry, that will come in due time to according to his beliefs. The point he is making is, in order for the end times to come, Jews have to go to Eretz Israel in order to enable the end times to occur. The reason for this is, is unclear to me, but in the Talmud it states that Jews should never go back to Eretz Israel before the coming of their saviour, thus I assume since Zionism is considered a sin they will be paid for disobeying God's commands. Its a complicated mix, but it is not anti-semitism because Hagee has not called for the death or Jews, nor does he hate the Jews. All he can be guilty of is ultra-orthodox Christian belief.

I don't believe it is neccessary to explicitly state one's hatred, the fact that he justifies Nazism and the Holacaust is proof enough. I do agree that anti-semite is over used, however in this case I believe it be justified.
