Sure she deserves a show, but it I am worried I will lose her on the radio!

She is brilliant, reasonable and funny (in that order, Cenk is all three too, but reversed).

by ProfRich on 05/20/2008 12:47:29 AM EST

Don't get me wrong, I love Rachel and all, but if I was interested in Road to the Whitehouse, I would watch it.   I've actually been listening to Mark Levin for the first hour, which is bad, but at least Mark is just a lunatic and not a smug asshole like Scarborough. The last hour she's been doing is still, of course, great.

But just give her a damn TV show already.  Then maybe Air America can put TYT or Seder or Maron in that slot or something.  Of course they wouldn't do that (because it would be a smart decision and all), but a man can dream.

like the simulcast. Its great advertisement for AAR and her show.

You mean Air America Radio? Are they still in business? I know they lost all of their AM affiliates, but I thought they finally gasped their last breath on satellite. This is so sad. I guess liberalism simply doesn't sell.

Check out the title of this post.

Come on you are a better troll than this.

Palin in 2012? Bitch, please! No, really, please run in 2012, bitch. ;)

do explain it to us. Explain how important AM radio is to American politics.

Then explain McCain.

I thought George Soros who is a sickening, rich liberal, and part of the intergalactic conspiracy of secular jewish bankers was funding AAR in a mendacious plot to undermine the American way of life and supplant our constitution (otherwise known as the Turner diaries) with ACLU propaganda. Besides, George Soros is a communist, because all liberals are communists. Which nutty conspiracy theory do we subscribe to today? The "solvency" of AAR is one of Cenk's fav topics. Agree with richard, this is pretty substandard trolling.

Wanna talk about AAR?

How are Fox's ratings trending?

How is Fox's money channel?

Personally all AAR has for me is Rachel.  The rest I don't really care for.  We don't need a Dem network, we need a progessive network.

I was on the fence about AAR but if
ken dosn't like them they are ok in my book.
I'm going to sign up as a paying AAR member.

How do you feel about Nova M radio, ken?

I enjoy political talk radio from both sides of the spectrum. That's how I got hooked on the Turks. I also enjoyed Sam Sedar, Jennine Garofolo, Al Franken, Mike Malloy. But then Air America destroyed their brand, and now I don't like it. For a while I was kinda mad at them. But then I realized they can't help it. Liberalism does not sell on talk radio. The inherent lack of logic cannot be masked in that format.

format.

Then explain O'Reilly's "War on Christmas" nonsense.

about "inherent lack of logic" Ken has a point about AAR destroying its own brand. Losing TYT for instance seems like a huge mistake. It was by far the most entertaining show they had. You can't fault them for Al Franken, since he left of his own volition to pursue a higher calling. They also got rid of Mark Maron, he was damn funny if you ask me. Ditto on Seder and Gareoffolo. But the other shows aren't that great. And now that they fired Randi Rhodes, which still mystifies me, our local affiliate carries her show via novaM instead of carrying whatever AAR has. Even though I'm not a Rhodes fan, it seems like they blew it there. Thom Hartman is very smart, but, I'm gonna be the bad guy here--he's not much fun to listen to. There are a couple shows that I used to like a lot, like ring of fire, but they don't come on frequently enough for me to be a loyal listener.

It's easy to see AAR is on its last legs.

Its just Ken's BS trolling.  He states the ditching of their best shows as the reason he quit listening, but can't make the obvious logical conclusion that it could be the reason why everyone else quit too.

The "inherant lack of logic line" was clearly a feeble attempt to defend his previous comment.  Once it became obvious how poor a choice that particular random right wing talking point it was on a post discussing the successes of liberal media figures, he had to "clarify".

Palin in 2012? Bitch, please! No, really, please run in 2012, bitch. ;)

As far as what I have read they are doing rather well.

Kentroll is a typical  troll the only difference is its harder to get rid of him. There was a nice thread with differing opinions about a subject of interest and the troll jumps in and posts some incendiary crap that he knows no one cares about just to stir up shit.

He thinks hes very cleaver.
He needs to think again.

Everyone agrees with me, and nobody agrees with you. I was moved by that story about what your "favorite" priest did to you, but you need to move past it.

Evidently Hazmat and I share the same radio taste brain.  I agree with that 100%.

Even Ken knows the difference between the good liberal shows and the bad.

If it is so obvious to us, how does AAR fail to get it?

I think AAR (particularly under Mark Green) is kind of an extension of the party.  The problem is we (the listeners) don't really care about the party, we care about the ideas.  Democrat radio is a bust, progressive radio works.  Look at the ascent of Rachel Maddow.  Check out the Turks ability to survive with NO support from a company.

This works better in Conservative world which is all about control, falling in line and taking orders.  As the Republican party tells the people what to think the people tell the Democratic party what to think.  THis means that the GOP will always have better discipline and higher levels of loyalty but the Dems will always be the party whose views coincide with the majority of the people.  This is the struggle.  The free-thinking undiscipline rablle vs. the authoritarian sheeple.

by ProfRich on 05/20/2008 02:52:19 PM EST

Al Franken definitely kick-started the new media. Remember when he started AAR the progressive movement was all but dead. Not because there were no progressives, just no progressives on the air. But in the end, you're right, the command and control from the top had a limited lifespan.

I HATE Road to the White House and will not listen to it on the radio.  For one thing, I listen to Rachel to avoid the CNN style shout shows for another the production is ALL WRONG for radio.  The awful booming music and the nonsensical pace.  Terrible radio.

If it helps Rachel and AAR good, but I can't listen.

Spencer, while we did lose Rachel's first hour, she now has a third hour.  You have to download it in podcast (I use the Green 960 out of SF site) but I do listen to it every day.  It is exactly like the 2nd hour used to be now that the 2nd hour is the first and the first is unlistenable.

O'Reilly and Hannity do tv and radio, so I hope Rachel, if she gets a show, will continue to have her radio show as well.
