Just a fun little post about Jason Taylor on Dancing with the Stars, since it was talked about on the post-game show Tuesday.

 

Finals, by the way, were Tuesday night, and Jason came in second to Kristi Yamaguchi.  Yay Kristi!

Cenk asked if the first judge admitted that he way gay. Yes, he does.

Most of the male pro dancers on the show, by the way, seem to be straight.  Many are married, and some have even hooked up with the female stars they were paired with.

It strikes me as funny that some men seen to think that dancing is gay or unmanly.  It may look silly to you, but when a man is masterful on the dance floor and is a strong lead for his lady, it's very sexy and manly.  Yum. Makes me wanna cha cha cha.

 P.S. Adam Corolla was eliminated fourth, but he sure was fun while he lasted. The first winner was an actress. Some athletes suuuuck at dancing.

Dancers are mostly straight (none / 0)

Around the world, ballroom dancing is done mostly by blue collar couples who have found something exciting to do that's different from work. In the US, there are college ballroom dance teams that compete regionally. Most dancers are straight, some are married--but the primary rule is that they don't dance with their spouses/boyfriends/girlfrie nds in competition. That's the fastest way to break up. The international competition style was started with the Brits and is dominated now by Russians. That's why their "Latin" dances don't look anything like most Latin dances--interesting, but all for show, and the fake tango looks like robot dancing. The TV shows use a combination of the American and International style. American style is easier.

Jason Taylor looks awesome as a dancer. I'd rather watch him dancing than on the football field--fewer clothes to obscure the view <g>. I'm sure his wife is enjoying the change of pace too!

It's not surprising that an all-around athlete could be a good dancer. The entire Brazilian fútbol team is "required" by the coach to be good dancers because that's supposed to make them better athletes.

Another view of Jason and Edyta's Paso Doble. What's with the cape? Paso Doble is supposed to represent a bullfight--matador, his cape, the bull. USA Dance National Competition paso doble video from April 2008 shows how stylized the dance is; also, the international competition.

How about those costumes??!!
