A good way to start posting.

To begin with; this is my first post at The Young Turks Community - and I'm still trying to find my way around here, so it might take a while for me to really get "warm in the clothes", as we say here in Sweden. Anyhow, I thought I'd start my posting with publishing some general election numbers (Obama-McCain) from Virginia, that will surely cheer us up.

According to the electoral vote map at electoral-vote.com, McCain currently has 285 electoral votes, should the election be held today. Not very good news. Hopefully, Obama is starting to get a post-primary bounce - picked up a new poll from SurveyUSA today with some numbers from Virginia; add 13 more electoral votes into the Obama kitty!

Obama 49% McCain 42%

Some polls with potential VP candidates were up too. Let's see how the best potential Democratic ticket (according to the survey), Obama/Edwards, would match up against McCain and his potential running mates.

Obama/Edwards 53% McCain/Huckabee 41%
Obama/Edwards 53% McCain/Romney 40%
Obama/Edwards 54% McCain/Pawlenty 36%

I know, I've never heard of this Pawlenty guy either. So I did a Wikipedia on him and found out that he's the Governor of Minnesota. Hmm.

With Obama getting the lead in Virginia, this puts him up to 255 votes against 272 for McCain. Better, but the current McCain-leads in Wisconsin and Michigan can still keep me up late at night. OK, it looks like Obama could pick up Colorado, Iowa, and New Mexico - 21 extra votes. The McCain leads in WI and MI represents 27 votes, however.

seeing Edwards as the VP. I would prefer he be in the atorney general spot though

I too am pretty new here and I read all posts. My first post on this site was about Edwards and Obama as running mates, that said, I like Edwards, mainly because he is so opposed to lobbyists, but I don't think he can bring the votes that the Dems need to put it away. Some other position for him like att. general might be a better choice. Cheers.
