When Joe Klein asked McCain in Savannah recently about Iran, most of us heard only one of several sad and embarrassing responses to come out of that press conference. On the DNC's Flipper TV, listen to McCain, especially re: his campaign lobbyist problems. Check out this link. He talks about Petraeus and tries to flub his lack of knowledge about Iran diplomacy by condescendingly responding to Klein and rambles about his "League of Democracies. " It gets especially bad from about 6:06 to 9:30 when he was asked by reporters several times about the lobbyist issue. "We have enacted the most comprehensive and most transparent policy concerning lobbyist activities of any campaign in history and I challenge Senator Obama to adopt the same policy." He sounds like a robot repeating essentially the same talking points again and again.

 

At first I thought he was trying to make a bullying point with this broken-record response, but I realized at last that he absolutely didn't know what to say except what had been rehearsed. Then he offers he has not even seen his campaign's questionnaire that his staff are expected to answer regarding their lobbying connections. This campaign is doomed if he is so completely out of touch with his campaign's operations and policies.
