The GOP over the last 16 Years

Google Technorati del.icio.us digg reddit
I remember the GOP's rethoric in the past Presidential elections in this country.

The GOP in 1992:

Ooohh Bill Clinton has no foreign policy experience! The only international experience he has is eating at the International House of Pancakes. By the way did you know he’s a draft dodger and did you know he smoked pot? You know you can’t trust a guy like him! Look at our man George H.W. Bush! He was a US envoy to China and the CIA director! He has a lot of experience in Washington, including being VP for eight years!

The GOP in 2000:

So what if George Bush has no foreign policy experience? That doesn’t matter. At least he’s not a Washington insider like Al Gore who’s been in Washington for 17 years! And so what if George Bush has a history of substance abuse? It shows his resolve in getting rid of it! And so what if he’s a draft dodger?

The GOP in 2008:

Ooohh Barack Obama has no foreign policy experience! He’s been in the Senate for only 3 years, how pathetic! By the way did you know he never served in uniform? And did you know he used drugs in college? You know you can’t trust a guy like him! Look at our man John McCain, he’s been in the senate for 21 years, that's a lot of experience! And he served his country in Vietnam!

Please (whatever is out there that we don't know about), help us!

2004- Kerry's decorated service in Vietnam is exactly why we shouldn't vote for him.  Everyone knows the Navy was handing out medals to any punk kid with connections.  What a fake and a loser.  He even called America war criminals.

Oh, and he has a rich wife who gives him all his money and won't release her tax information.

And he's a beltway insider and longtime Senator who flipped flopped on a few issues.

2008- You HAVE to vote for McCain, he's a Viet Nam war hero!!!!  Not voting for him, much less crticizing his service, is tantamount to treason!  So he said Americans are war criminals, big deal he did that under torture which he has clearly stated is a great way to get the truth from people but ignore that part.

He has a rich, much younger trophy wife (who he picked up and started dating while still married) who pays for everything and won't release her tax records, and youur point is?

His longtime experience as a (crooked) Senator in the beltway is exactly why he should be president!

The fact that he has changed his position on EVERY issue THREE OR FOUR TIMES just shows how much of a maverick he is.  Flip-flopping is exactly what you need in a president!

And let us not forget:

1996- Every possible accusation of presidential wrongdoing, no matter how small the crime or poorly substantiated the claim, should be investigated by the full law enforcement and beuracratic capacity of the country, even those agents who should be working on terrorism.

2002- Are you sure Congress has any oversight authority? We can't find that in this "Dick Cheney Special Edition Constitution" the president gave to us.
