Obama's Real Patriotism. "Change" is changing the PROCESS, the SYSTEM!

Google Technorati del.icio.us digg reddit
If you like this story, digg it!
Patritos vs. Tories. This election is ALL ABOUT changing the PROCESS, the SYSTEM, just like it was during the American Revolution. We MUST defeat the Clintonite "Tories" and fight the corporate LOBBYIST TYRANNY!

Everybody keeps saying, "oh, Hillary and Barack are pretty much the same on the issues". Even Cenk has said this.

Well, I'm sorry Cenk, but you are completely wrong. First off, Hillary lies about half the issues, so eventhough her lies might be similar to Obama's real positions, her support corporate interests is very antithetical to what Obama is saying.

And it is on this one BIG ISSUE, an issue that almost nobody talks about (except Obama himself of course), that there is a world of difference.

It is the issue of the POLITICAL PROCESS. On this one gigantic overiding issue, Obama represents a true patriotic vision of our future. A vision where the government is more responsive to the people, because the people have greater access to the goverment.  Whereas Hillary represents the same old status quo, the same old system, the corporate lobbyist stranglehold on our government and politicians who are beholden to them, and not the people.

 ..................... ................

So they had this Hillary backer, a congressman from Missouri, Emanuel Cleaver, on CNN recently, and they asked him why he was supporting Hillary when more than 80% of his district voted for Obama? And the good congressman  said:

"I'm supporting her, and will continue to support her, out of LOYALTY, I am LOYAL to the Clintons."

So, basically, Congressman Cleaver's support for Hillary had
NOTHING to do with policy, or who would be the better President,or the  character necessary to be President, or integrity, or any other issue. It was simply support based on loyalty. Loyalty to the Clinton "royal" family, to the "restoration of the crown".

And it hits me, thats exactly it, the Clintonites are LOYALISTS! Just like the 1/3rd of Americans who stayed loyal to the crown in the Revolution, no matter how much the British Army raped and pillaged (in this case, the Clintons are carrying out "rhetorical pilaging"). The Clintonites are TORIES!

They don't care about issues, or, if they do, they don't realize they are being LIED to and misled (NOTE: Hillary VOTED FOR the new BANKRUPTCY ACT, a HUGE GIFT to CORPORATE AMERICA and the CREDIT CARD COMPANIES!). They don't care who is the better leader in this very difficult time, or who has the decency and integrity when its needed most. Its simply about LOYALTY to them. Well, LOYALTY IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH, not nearly good enough in these troubled times.

Obama gave a speech in Philadelphia a couple weeks ago, in which he said, we must "throw off the TYRANNY" of CORPORATE LOBBYISTS who CONTROL our government, just like Americans had to throw off "British tyranny" in the American Revolution".

Just like the founding fathers of our American Revolution, Obama is the REAL PATRIOT. He wants a revolutionary transformation of our SYSTEM to fullfill the rights and needs of ALL AMERICANS to "Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness"!

In 1780, after 5 years of fighting, the American Revolution almost failed. Several devastating defeats on the battlefield, even the surrender of the Patriot Army in the South, and the defection of the great general Benedict Arnold to the British, its seemed all was lost.

But we didn't give up. In the LAST ACT of the Revolution, the Patriots rallied, and with their allies defeated the British and the Loyalists at Yorktown in 1781. We stood up and fought, and turned it around and won.

NOW IS THAT POINT in this deeply significant election! This is the most important election since 1968. Its not a fluke that Obama has quoting Bobby Kennedy so extensively the last few days - because he's trying to take us down that same progressive road that Bobby Kennedy was trying to those long 40 years ago.

For the FIRST TIME in 40 YEARS, a TRULY PROGRSSIVE DEMOCRAT has a REAL CHANCE of becoming President! Obama is NOT somebody who is "unpatriotic" because he doesn't wear a "lapel pin" 24 hours a day, Obama is the TRUE PATRIOT because he is trying to CHANGE THE SYSTEM FOR THE PEOPLE.

Thats what "CHANGE" IS ALL ABOUT!

This is a real and truly PATRIOTIC cause, not some terrible, grotesque, FALSE PATRIOTSIM that led Americans to support the War in Iraq! REAL PATRIOTISM is FOR THE PEOPLE, and thats what Obama represents!

So, at this critical hour, STAND UP AND FIGHT for the people, be a TRUE PATRIOT, and defeat the Clintonite TORIES and corporate lobbyists!

STAND UP AND BE A REAL PATRIOT in this difficult time! OBAMA NOW MORE THAN EVER!

OK - I'm not even going to get into the audacity of the thought that this election is anything akin to the American Revolution - You can have and express your opinions freely and openly...

I will only ask you this - What do you think is going to change if Obama becomes president, in terms of the system or process? Do you really think he is willing or even capable of this sort of revolutionary adjustment you seem to be envisioning?

The corporations are still gonna run this country - The rich will still dominate the poor - There will always be needy, hungry and destitute among us. This is not going to change even if Jesus Christ himself became our president... I am failing to see what impact one man can have on a system that is so overly fucked that its not even worth laughing at anymore... Im not even gonna get into Obamas personal qualifications - They are irrelevant to your point.

Taxes are still going to be outrageous - the Federal Court system can only be altered so much with each administration - Racism is still going to be embedded in most of our systems of policy - So I ask you -

Don't you think you are setting Obama's bar slighlty high - he is only one man!!!

Revolutions tend to come at the end of a gun - our next one will be no different...

Thanks for your posting - Let me know what you think...

Revolutions tend to come at the end of a gun

tell that to the Russia's and the south Africa's..
and they where in a much worst spot then we are in..
in 1932 i don't remember bloodshed..
the only trouble is the attitude that nothing can be done..

1932? Oh by the way, how did that depression end (and consequently that Revolution begin)?

At the end of a gun... World War II...

Im not saying things cant be changed or different - Im saying that the needed changes that will make our lives better eventually will only be acheived through much suffering and hardship, and it will eventually come out of the end of a gun - Cant you see that it has already started - Iraq is not the end all be all of this conflict, guys...

Thanks...

While the Great Depression ended for good with WWII, the "revolution", which was a new way of thinking about the role of government began even before 1932 when FDR was governor of NYC.

By the time WWII came around the revolutionary idea of the New Deal had already become mainstreamed and wouldn't be seriously challeneged until Reagan.

Yes, there did happen to be a war right after the New Deal but that is more or less coincidental.  For one thing to say WWII caused the revolution of the New Deal would violate causality and for another to claim the War was somehow the culmination of fulfillment of New Deal ideas doesn't make any sense at all as the role of government in WWII was not substantially different than the role of government in WWI.  There are a few exceptions, like the GI Bill but by the time they came into being the revolution was complete.

I really don't mean this to be mean, but it is pretty clear you are not very well informed so I hope that helped.

Your welcome :)

Are you fucking kidding me!!!!

It wasn't the New Deal that got us out of the Depression - it was World War II  !!!!

If you think that the New Deal helped us economically to get out of the Depression, then you are not as smart as I thought you were!!!! Yeah, it temporarily relieved the Hoover disaster, but what really brought us out was the War Spending and Economic takeover of Japan and Europe!!!! Not the fucking New Deal!!!!

Are you guys saying you want a NEW DEAL type of scenario for us now? Is that what Obama represents for you? Are you fucking kidding me??? Whos gonna pay for it?

And speaking of causality, what the Hell do you think a New NEW DEAL would result in??? I'll tell you -

World War Fucking III

But I figure we're already in it (we just haven't called it that yet...)

Sheesh...

:)

PS - Its "you're welcome" you dumb ass... i hope you don't teach English!

First, the fact that you responded to my post without reading it, or at least understanding it makes it even more likely you are Ken.

Go read what I said and then compare it to you reaction and hopefully you will see there is no correlation between the two.

Specifically please show where I (a) said the New Deal ended the Great Depression (hint: I said WWII did) and (b) made even an oblique reference to what Obama or anyone else should do in 2008.

This is why you are such a joke.  I posted about the historical realities of the 1930s and you assumed I was running out old Dem talking points and assumed I was referring to 2008.  I did neither.  I was only talking about what aspects of the 1930s were revolutionary and when that revolution occured.

Your post is an embaressment to you.  Read the whole exchange again you dumbass.

How can Obama change the system without changing the very system of income distribution within the country? The only way he can actually change the system is to go further than just not take corporate dollars for his campaign, but there has to be a radical re-thinking about the economy and the current system. I disagree with Bobo1 when he says that this system can never change, it can if we fight for it. Of course the whole neoliberal agenda since Reagan has been "there is no alternative" and too many people have bought it.

The only hope for real change is if the recession gets worse, and the popular pressures are going to be so great that the government will have to intervene and change the rules of the game. This happened during the Great Depression, and then again in 1980, will 2008 be that year? If we want real change in America, the current system has to collapse, and its not impossible for it to do so. Obama in office would be the only one I can see who can enact that change. Clinton is beholden to the 90s where Reaganomics was compounded, and McCain is a Reagan boy. Thus, only Obama is ideologically capable of changing the system.

Before the revolution can we have some truth?

You kill Cleaver for his loyalty despite the votes in his district but mention nothing of Kerry or Kennedy? Didn't their state go for Clinton. I guess it is O.K. to do that when it involves saint Obama right?

Obama wants to change government, really?

I got one word for you Resko.

Koolaid does a body good

by LORD FOUL on 05/06/2008 09:48:18 AM EST

to hear anything damning with regards to Resko. Its certainly a far tinier scandal (if you can call it that) than the shit I've had to fend off as a Clinton supporter over the years.

"I got one word for you Resko."

I got 2 words for you.  Shut the fuck up.

Don't get mad!! its an obscure Midnight Run reference ;) I agree that Obama isn't a saint. Saints are unelectable.

Look at the Resko, then look at White water. Which one, based solely on the facts, is worse?

Not that it really matters, neither one amounts to a hill of beans, except when your opponent owns the media.

All those so-called (Clinton) scandals, so little to show for it (a stained dress). They tried so hard they investigated their Christmas list and their cat.

Do you really believe it will be any different for any Dem candidate? or have we forgotten what a phony and a liar Gore was, or what a flip flopping fake war hero Kerry was.

I only get mad when Liberals refuse to get off the tracks when they see the train coming. The best is yet to come, Farrakan, Resko, Chicago politics and his wife.

Maybe Obama can make a candy shop video with 50 cent. Starring Wright, farrakan, Sharpton and Jackon.

Nah, just an omen of things to come my friend.

If Obama is going to make video's with Jay-Z then he might as well do one with 50 cent.

He might as well tell those blue collar whites to take a hike as well (like his minions have been doing for the last couple of days). As Donna Brazile says we don't need them (or Hispanics).

See you in Dukakis land.

Blue collar whites loves them some black culture.  Have you ever been at the country bar when the rap song comes on?

The hicks go nuts.  They love it.

Ever been to small town America and seen all the throwback jerseys and crap?

What do you think Eminem was?  "White trash" practicing his love of black music.

There are a hell of a lot of blue collar white folks who love Jay-Z believe it or not.   I know all you elitists, like bobo, assume this isn't true down at your fancy coffee shops but hillbilly's love rap and hip hop.  It is at once disturbing, sad and hysterical.  This is not to say they aren't racist, but they do love the music, clothes, culture etc.

Haven't you ever seen some chick wearing a wifebeater and a mullet down at the Wal-Mart picking out a cell phone case with some bling?

C'mon, Ken, back me up here.  You know this is true.

Go ask marshall mathers if he voted (before he became famous) he probably still doesn't

Note: I am not the one calling white people racists

I'm elitist? wow thanks! I guess I am one of the gang now huh?

Do I get my Barack Obama decoder ring (it changes from muslim to christian, depending on your mood.)

Do I get the single I am proud to be an american as sung by Michelle?

How about a "God Damn America T-shirt" proceeds going to the Ihatewhitey fan club.

How about this HIV-US perfect together.

When I buy property will my neighbor front me a parcel?

Gotta better one It takes an Obama to capture an Osama. barack can do it in his pajamas.

Its only torture when Hillary does it.

I love america (in public)

I got a crazy uncle named Wright, who speaks the truth both day and night. I gotta disown him to win this fight, god knows I hate them damn whites.

Bitterness is only a state of racism

You're essentially saying they won't vote for him because he is too black, but you're not calling them racist.  How's that work?

I didn't say I wouldn't vote for him

I guess since I'm an elitist, it is too far over your head to understand
