Raw Story reports
Obama: McCain 'losing his bearings' is more damning to a former naval aviator.

To a navy veteran, as I am, the term "bearing" refers to the ability to maintain yourself with a proper "bearing" while approaching your destination (or target) at a specific "bearing" using electronic equipment whose accuracy depends on "bearings."  To McCain (a retired navy aviator), the term "losing his bearings" could be a slam on his manliness, his vision, his mental faculties, his ability to command, and, finally, his age.  To me, the term would merely say "you're fricking crazy," but I'm not an egocentric, power-hungry, corrupt, manchurican candidate running for the most powerful political office in the world.

At sea and in the wilderness, knowing one's position and direction relative to other geographic locations is essential. Understanding how to use/read navigation equipment is basic, but there are exceptions. Hence, knowledge of reading the stars, making/using a compass and sextant are vital for times when there are no batteries or electricity. This knowledge, skill, combined with the ability to make good decisions quickly help one to find and keep one's bearings.

John McCain gets confused easily, doesn't want to admit it, and isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer to begin with. Perhaps he has the wrong kind of bearings [presence rather than navigation and decision-making skills].

Is McCain even smart enough to be brainwashed into a Manchurian candidate?

McCain has for whatever reason caught himself in his own web of lies and doubletalk in his quest for what he thinks is his Holy Grail.

It couldnt happen to a creepier prick.
