Obama's Compromise

And the Clintonistas are Still Calling it a Clusterf**k

Chuck Todd (and who doesn't believe Chuck Todd who's been so right so often) says he has it from several sources who were at the lunchtime meeting of the DNC Rules and Bylaws committee that Obama could have had an even better deal for Michigan, but wanted a larger vote for the sake of unity. See the quick link.

How the Hell did he get any votes if his name wasnt on the Ballot!!!!!  HE TOOK NAME OFF THE BALLOT WILLINGLY!!! This is the loosest logic at work here!!!!

Now, if the voters wrote his name in - then great - count em all!!!! But voting "uncommitted" means you havent decided!!! You are not "committed" to anyone!!!!

But besides all that, Verified - my main beef with this meeting yesterday - They changed the result of an election numerically - the DNC decided to allocate 69 delegates to hillary instead of the 73 that would have numerically been hers as per the results of the election -
THEY CHANGED THE RESULT OF THE PUBLIC VOTE WITHOUT THE CONSENT OF THOSE WHO VOTED!!!

Somebody earlier on one of these posts told me that Primaries are not run by Federal/Constitutional guidelines - fine, but elections are still run by state and local guidelines, and this party has altered the vote to give them their desired result - why have a vote at all if the party is just going to rig the election the way they want it?????

Yeah, the Hillary voters are still raising a clusterfuck, as well they should - Obama didnt need those 4 extra delegates from Michigan to get the nomination - but thats beside the point - The DNC changed the result of an election - basing their magical numbers on Exit Polls and the intent of the voter... Sounds like Florida 2000 to me...

Sheesh!

If I were a voter in Mich. and my ballot said Hillary and Uncommitted, I would have assumed that the vote went to Obama. How many voters actually knew the rules about what "uncommitted" really means? It was a proxy vote, those who voted uncommitted, we all know, were basically voting for Obama. What does Hillary want? 100% of all the delegates? I agree with you that that Hillary should have gotten her 73 delegates, not that it would make a shit of difference...but not giving it to her is causing more pain than if it were given to her.

However, Hillary is a slimy character, she agreed not to count Mich. delegates at all, and one of the posters noted how she was not going to put her name on the Mich. ballot, but she did. Obama should have given it to Hillary, as a showing of sympathy for a dead campaign, and to to appease the rabid Hillary supporters. Obama should give Hillary some great position in his administration, or even a nod for the Supreme Court to get her out of Democratic politics once and for all!

In Hillary's PR victory speech she said something like "when the voting ends Tuesday, neither I nor Senator Obama will have the total delegates required to win the nomination. But I will have the lead in the popular vote while Senator Obama will have a *slight* lead in the delegate count".

That wasn't a direct quote, but you get the idea. The part that stood out to me (aside from the BS popular vote nonsense) was the "slight lead" Obama would have.

Come on Hillary supporters. Even *if* you accept the bullshit popular vote argument and questionable numbers, you have to acknowledge that her "lead" would be slight at best.

I've come to the conclusion, IHNB, that the only thing left is to frighten her into a corner by holding a cross upside down in front of her face and then drive a wooden stake into her heart. I'm off today to buy a bag of salt to throw on the grave.

His name wasn't on the ballot because he knew that the vote wasn't supposed to count.

What is difficult to understand about this?  How can you possibly think that counting the votes as they stood in MI was even remotely fair?

Hillary supporters are planning a "Die In" for Denver. I don't know what it is, but I've been practicing by blogging on my blackberry while lying on my back. It's really difficult. I demand that we count every vote!

Well, Ken, we'd all love to see you and your blackberry upturned on the streets of Denver, haha, but I suspect it will not be in deathlike protest. Rather it will be in the street that's actually in front of the taproom from drinking too much with Bobo.

I see you read my post from the other thread, since you mentioned my point about the primaries not being actual elections in the true sense.  What strikes me as funny is that you ignored the first part of my comment where I pointed out that Clinton (and Biden, and Richardson, and Dodd, and Edwards, and Obama) ageed with the DNC's position to punish MI and PLEDGED to take their names off the ballot.  Only Clinton out of all 6 of them decided to go against her word and sneakily leave her name on the ballot.  So cut the bullshit about Obama voluntarily taking his name off the ballot as if you're making this grand point.

And let me say something about the die-in picture that Ken posted further down.  Those people are mindless sheep and need to use whatever shred of self respect they have left to pick themselves up and go the fuck home.  Where was the die in in front of the MI legistlature or the Governor's office when they made this decision?  Where was the die in in front of DNC headquarters when they made the ruling to not count the MI vote?  Give me a break.

Yeah, sure, we all know about the Hillary Rovian bush*t, "duh, leaving my name on the ballot doesn't mean any votes will count." How many of you live in Michigan or have friends/family in Michigan? My friends there told me that they all knew that their votes wouldn't count. ALL of the candidates made it clear, including Clinton [she lied]. So some of them voted "uncommitted" and some forgot and wrote in a name so their ballot was thrown away without being counted at all.

However lots of them did their own mischief, crossing over to vote for Mitt Romney to keep him in the race longer, before the inevitable McCain win. They did their Operation Chaos long before Dittohead Rush even thought of it.

So Hillary's camp is obviously lying, twisting the facts, inventing new math, trying to change the rules. Obama's reaction? Brilliant! Changing the subject and inviting her to most likely have her concession speech this week so she can get on the Obama bandwagon to win in November. And after all, the primary is all about winning in November, not massaging Clinton's ego. And her "supporters" who say they'll vote for McCain? They're either fakes, scared or racist tools--leftover Dixiecrats who couldnt figure out how to change parties, not real Democrats.

Yes, zenie. I think this whole exercise comes down to two things:

1. Would there be so much principled outrage on behalf of the FL and MI voters by Hillary Clinton and her mnions if she had not received so many votes in those states?

2. There's a lot to be said for courting the so-called undereducated vote. They don't seem to have much grasp of the issues, if they are planning to vote for McCain who will usher in the destruction of all the women's and children's rights Senator Clinton has worked so hard for.
