Hi Guys!

So I'm here in a little internet cafe in Hawaii and I thought it would be a good idea to give you an update:

Hawaii is gorgeous. It's literally a real-life paradise, with pina coladas that taste like heaven, and ocean water that's so blue it makes the sky look white in comparison. My tan is coming along! Except my back is peeling from the stupid tanning bed I laid in before the trip. My family is also driving me crazy. But it's okay.

I miss home already, but the days are passing fast, so I know I'll be home and back at work before I know it. Today we are going to some pinapple plantation, and the Pear Harbor Memorial. Should be good times! See you guys soon!

The sugar cane would wilt knowing they could never match your sweetness.

Now, quit thinking about work and have fun!

don't be a Barney - get in the water, paddle out, and take one for the team.   Most of all have a great time lucky!

I stand by your base tan argument.

Don't get me wrong, I think over-tanning (especially combined with overly dyed hair and too much make up and jewelery) is disastrous for women.  But I also agree that some color is nice.

And let's be real here, what do Cenk and Jayar know about tanning? It's like asking a 7 footer to help you pick out some elevator shoes.

I'm reminded of naturally busty women saying they'll never understand why anyone would ever consider breast implants and that women should be happy with what they've got.

Leave it to ihnb to turn this fun little vacation thread into his dissertation on the benefits of tanning.  ;)*

My support of Ana on being tan will be the wind beneath her wings she needs to fly back home.*

*I'm not sure what that means either, but I had to respond.

"...(especially combined with overly dyed hair and too much make up and jewelery) is disastrous for women."

To be fair, it ain't the best thing could happen to a dude, either...

Ana will agree, nothing is sexier than a guido guy who works out and tans like crazy, puts half a bottle of gel in his hair and sprays on half a bottle of cologne.

And the cherry on top is the shirt unbuttoned an extra couple of buttons to reveal the chain.  Additional jewelery is a plus.

You know what I mean, right?

Hopefully you'll come back with a Koller-esque travelogue video about the local Hawaiian hookers.

I can't be in Hawaii, but by drinking this, I hope to be there in spirit.  What island are you on?

Ana, maybe you can get an interview with Obama's gramma while you're there. You are much more endearing than anyone on CNN for sure. Nice dress, btw.

But imagine what it was like before Americans invaded and took the islands from the native Hawaiians. Another tragic story of hubris on our part.

Visit the little town of Haleiwa on the north shore.  Stop by Matsumoto's for a shaved ice in the afternoon.  Then go to the public beach "Haleiwa Alii Beach Park" in the late afternoon and look for sea turtles.  There's usually a couple on the beach and you can swim and wade in shallow water where they graze on seaweed on the rocks.  If you don't see any immediately just sit on the beach and watch for their heads as they come up for air.

by bfaul on 06/11/2008 09:37:06 AM EST

P.S.  The turtles tend to hang out on the left side of the beach park when you're facing the ocean.   There's a nice point there for sunsets.  The turtles are to the left of this point.

so how much chance of Cenk going to laugh with the whole sunburn thing? :)

In the evening, go sit on the beach, when the sun is going down and put on "Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World' from late Hawaiian legend Israel Kamakawiwoʻole aka Bruddah Iz, only one of 3 people who's coffin lay in state in Capitol building in Honolulu.

have fun Ana
