On Tuesday, June 10th, there will be no TYT show. Cenk will be attending a conference all day, and no guests hosts were available on short notice.  Since there is no show to watch, please use the extra time wisely by reading a book.

On Wednesday, June 11th, the show will air at 9pm ET / 6pm PT.  We resume our normal schedule on Thursday.  Thanks for watching!

Does the Young Turks have a suggested reading list?

Up in that red bar on the top of the webpage is a library link:

(I am guessing Michael Parenti's Assassination of Julius Caesar must be really, really good - it is on there 4 times! ha)

They could call it that if they took it to the American Southwest.

During the Xmas season, it can be the ho-ho-ho-cam.

thanks for posting Pacific Time!  yes, I can "do the math," but appreciate posting of left coast times.

Would it be too much trouble to put the chat room up when there is no show, or provide a link to the chat room? There is a nice banter that goes on there, even when the show is on loop.

If I had to recommend one book in the library, I would DEFINITELY choose the Michael Parenti book, even if I don't know how to spell Caesar.  It may be ancient history, but it's entirely relevant to human society and governance today.  I haven't read Ravi Batra's books, but I hear they're good.  I wouldn't bother reading the Bush bashing books, because if you listen to the show, you know a lot of that.

totally, totally on point about the Parenti book

the first chapter actually gives you a lot to ponder on about history as it's been written (in short: historians were part of the elites, who saw events from their pov)

During my 6 years of Latin in high school I always felt that some stories were of, didn't make sense, Parenti made me change the point of view and I got a version of history that made a lot more sense

dave mentioned he got the shock doctrine.  anyone who hasn't read it, should at least flip through it.  it's pretty durn good stuff. her book is so incredibly relevant in capturing the flawed (scratch that...not flawed, fallacious) thinking of free market economics.  then goes on to show how it's failed, and how it will continue to fail.

i'd suggest reading confessions of an economic hitman if you're looking for a cheaper alternative to ambien.  i feel like i  should've just sent the author&n bsp;a check to go tell a therapist about a ll the guilt he's wrought with, ins tead of having read through it all.
