For anyone worried about Obama's religious beliefs, and how it might effect his Presidency, this should make you feel a whole lot better.  It does me, and I'm an atheist.

Hey Happyhominid,

I had seen pieces of this speech but not this much. As one user asks on Youtube. Do you know when and where this speech was made? I'm an atheist myself but I would be curious to hear how religious people react to this. I'm sure there's a whole spectrum of "religious people" so let's say "mainstream religious people" instead. I suspect though, that Obama being a shrewd politician (you have to admit this even if you don't like him! like I do with K. Rove) made sure to check with pollsters and focus groups before making that speech...

    It was a speech given in 2006 to the Call To Renewal religious conference.  It was considered quite controversial due to the audience it was delivered to.  Hardly pandering!  It actually means more to me, that he said it to specifically religious people.
