I saw the huffpo item, although I haven't seen the media coverage you're referring to. Keeping this in mind, I don't buy it. The story about that fundraiser saying this is an enormous "fuck you" to Hillary sounds suspicious to me. A) There's been talk of bringing in Solis Doyle for a couple months now, so its not a surprise to see it happen now that her former boss has conceded, and B) Doyle is formerly a very loyal Clintonite and left the campaign in a way that suggested a real desire to see them succeed. I don't see how it could be any kind of "signal" since Hillary has already publicly stated that the choice is the nominee's and that she doesn't intend to push the issue.

Here's what confuses me. I hope he hired her for some more substantive reason than triangulating Hillary. Thata can't be the only reason. Okay, maybe he's gotta cover his bases, but what's the story behind the collapse of the Clinton Campaign? Apparently they (Clintonites) think it was Solis-Doyle's fault. I mean specifically the mismanagement of the money that was blamed on her. If she's an incompetent manager, why hire her? Is there another side to that story that Obama insiders are privy to? Or is the hire purely to appeal to hispanics? If it is, that's weaksauce, folks.

This whole flap is just another case of the MSM being duped into spending hours and hours fixating on right wing talking points.

Since Hillary dropped out the right has desperately tried to exacerbate any potential rift in the party leftover from the primaries.  They started the whole, "He can't pick her for VP or he will be a weakling caving in to the emasculating woman!" thing and now this.

Believe me, if he wouldn't have hired her, the same right wing operatives would be going crazy over how this was a clear slap in Hillary's face and the same clueless media hacks would be following along unquestioningly.

Its a stupid nonsense story.  What the hell are they suggesting, that every campaign person who worked for Hillary has to either switch parties or retire?

Just stupid.

Except for the fact that the MSM on MSNBC and CNN today replayed over and over and over the booing that the Obama people gave when Hillary's name was mentioned in Detroit at the Gore endorsement.

It was resonating with both the crowd there and the television audiences - it cannot be sheer coincidence that Obama happened to hire the Solis lady without at least the added benefit of bitch slapping the Clintons - Shes been hired to be the VP chief of staff (A side question for all of you: Why the Hell would Obama be hiring for the VP - Dont they get to pick their own staff?) as a clear signal that Hillary will not be joining the ticket... Is there any other way to look at this, giventhat there is this supposed animosity between Clinton and Solis?

Or is this just Obama being the brilliant politician you guys think he is by softening the blow to the Liberals in the party by hiring the remainder of the Clinton campaign team to welcome her as VP?

Party Unity my big ass - the Obama side and the Clinton side might as well be different parties - they are like a troubled married couple that stays together "for the kids sake" - Does that ever benefit anyone?

BTW - I thought the Obama supporters in Detroit showed a lot of class when Hillary was mentioned - NOT!!! I think Obama's got some huevos though to roll into Michigan even after he first denied their votes and then had them altered - that takes some balls - Im glad to see he's finally developing some - it WILL help him in the end!

:)

I mean you guys keep telling me how the Democrats have completely collapsed and I look at the polls and Obama is leading in every single one by 3-6% and then you tell me how much Michigan hates Obama for the primary stuff and Obama is winning there by 3%.

It just makes me think that when the Dems do unite this is gonna turn into a real ass-kicking.  I mean no one seriously believes the Dems are gonna get more divided what with primary over and Hillary campaigning for Obama now.

So basically what we see right now is worst case scenario for Dem division.  And the worst case scenario is pretty damn good.

Yeah those states anti-Obamaists insist he can't win over and over and over.  He's winning them.

Isn't it strange how bobo and Ken keep insisting they know what the truth is no matter how much the evidence on hand contradicts them?

When high school kids start writing papers they almost always start by coming up with a thesis.  Then they go looking for evidence.  What happens next is "research" that invariably ends up either ignoring obvious facts or using facts in ways that do not or actually contradict the thesis.

I have to teach them to go research the facts and THEN come up with a thesis once you have some knowledge of the reality.

Bobo and Ken could really use that lesson.

Here is something I just "researched" even though I knew it to be true without having to look it up - Thesis: Obama is not the candidate that will bring people of all creed and color togetherm Research: Muslims barred from picture at Obama event Politico front page I haven't figured out how to link from this blackberry - ill fix it when I get back to my main computer. Anyway - research that, Professor - so much for "equality" from the Obama camp!

So I said Obama is winning the election and your response is some muslims were barred from a campaign event.

What am I missing here?

That I like to give unsubstantiated statements without any so called "facts" or "research" to back them up - so I gave a thesis and did some research - voila! Another one of my opinions about Obama turns out to be true... Screw it - I'm just gonna continue to give my opinions and screw the "research" - this is a damn leftwing blog, not the National Scholarly Fucking Review!!!! You can be disconcerted all you want... Thanks for your time... :)

And actually take things as they are, you wouldn't need to worry about it... Have I ever asked anyone on here for scholarly reference when espousing their beliefs? Never - that's not what blogging is about, Spence... You guys just throw "no facts" up as an automatic defense, a typical kneejerk response toward anyone who disagrees... Its kinda like when Obama says - "those are the same tired politics of the past...blah blah blah" Talk about a diversionary tactic when he doesn't have anything original to say - kinda like you everytime you respond to me... :)

Not surprising.

Nobody is asking you for facts (because we would never expect you to give them).  I'm saying that the debate is done because you just brought up something completely random and declared victory. "Talk about a diversionary tactic" indeed.

That is weak sauce, really.  I'm afraid I can't recommend that you become a scientist ;)  I know you can do better.

Perhaps he hired her even if he's thinking of Hillary as the VP to establish who the boss is going to be.

As for the Michigan appearance, he doesn't support that type of behavior and has so stated repeatedly.
