All-out assault on Obama by the media

The media is dismantling Obama's decision last week to opt out of public financing.

While the media has done nothing to mention McCain's cheating on campaign finance during the primary (only Obama surrogates have EVER mentioned it), they are blatantly skewering Obama for his decision to opt out of the public finance system. Now I found it curious that he ever made the statement in the first place on that survey last year. Maybe he was hungover that day, or maybe he really did intend to use public financing. I can only assume his campaign staffers got to him and said look, you've got too much money coming in, you can't just give it back. Basically he's got so much money coming in that he'll never be beholden to ANY special interest. I seriously doubt McCain would be able to say the same thing.
So it appears that Obama changed his position, but in reality he said he would pursue an agreement that McCain had no interest in pursuing either, so they agreed to not agree on anything. The question is why is the media being so judgmental about him making this decision? Even Bob Schieffer called it a total flip-flop. I think the powers that be of the media are very concerned that their voice is going to be diminished by the Obama campaign and the blogosphere. They're starting to get the memo that the Internet is at least as powerful as the old media and campaign fundraising methods. Criticizing him heavily for making an obviously good decision and making it seem as though he can never make any campaign finance reform laws now is totally dishonest. The powers that be are worried that too many people are becoming engaged and that true democracy will become the norm, rather than the country continuing to be run as a de-facto Oligarchy.
