Sad day.

If just today they said those seven things, it'd be a great tribute.

If Carlin isn't too cynical for you, you must lead a pretty bleak existence (he's not too cynical for me, for example).

Sad to see him go.  A funny man but also a pretty brilliant social critic.  When I was a kid I heard Carlin pointing out the absurdity of everyday attiudes and values and, like one of those infomercial fat blockers, it prevented me from absorbing and accepting a lot of stuff other people came to internalize unquestioningly.

I particularly remember a rant he had on the need to acquire more and more stuff.  Just hearing that cured me of that particular affliction.

I glad we all got to listen to him for a while.  He taught us all something and made us laugh while we learned.  Can't ask for too much more than that.

He was brilliant and hilarious. I'm just saying that sometimes he was too cynical for me.

I can be very cynical and pessimistic at times, but not THAT cynical and pessimistic (see the clip I posted. I agree with much of it but can't go all the way). It might not seem like there's a difference between thinking things are 90% wrong vs 100% wrong, but that 10% is huge.

It's sad that he's gone.  Hopefully there will be some good specials and press on him so that a new generation gets exposed to his work.

I will miss him because he wasn't afraid to tell people, especially Republicans to FUCK OFF!

I recently watched this "Politically Incorrect" episode with Carlin on...hilarious!

Too bad he had to die and he's in our thoughts yadda yadda...

Here he is on Countdown last fall.

I love the concept of "professional Christians."  And I agree with what he says--power does whatever it wants.  And unfortunately, country is finished... at least for him.  RIP one of the greats.

Like many people my age, we'd sneak in with our friends and play his records when no one was home just to hear the swear words and the fart jokes. But little by little my way of thinking was influenced by his pointing out the absurdities of life and the bullshit that people tried to sell you (figuratively and literally).  If it wasn't for him (and maybe M*A*S*H), I'd probably be one of those clones that nodded every time the president spoke, believed everything he ever heard, and listened to Rush Limbaugh religiously.  I'm glad to hear others say the same.

One of the true greats, he will be missed and I will celebrate his legacy... In fact he'll be required listening for my children.

Pussy-farts. R.I.P George, glad he made it long enough for new-bies like me to be able to enjoy him too!

We will miss your biting insight.

George was very vocal on his feelings about religion and god. Some religious writer has made the comment that despite his inteligience he is now in hell. I would guess that George would scoff at either idea, being at gods side or in hell. In my humble opinion, his passing should recieve at least 3 weeks of constant coverage on the major news channels. RIP
