Germany vs Turkey

Germany and Turkey have had a special relationship ever since Kaiser Wilhelm's celebrated tour through the Sultan's realm, the building of the Berlin-Baghdad railway and both countries being brothers in arms in WWI. Those close ties were one of the reasons why Germany's industry recruited many guest workers in Turkey back in the 50s and 60s.

Today, 2.5 million Turks or Germans of Turkish origin live and work in Germany, while Turkey's the favourite holiday destination of us Germans. It almost goes without saying that Germany's Turkey's foremost trading-partner.

On the football pitch, it might be said that quite a few German coaches, including our present national coach, have worked in Turkey whereas a good number of Turkish players grew up, live and play in Germany. In the many fanzones across Germany, Turkish and German colours mingle with each other and a joyous carnival atmosphere prevails.

For Germans and Turks this is a special game. I'm greatly looking forward to it and predict the score to be 3-1 in favour of Germany.

What about you fellow YoungTurks? Will you follow it? What's your score prediction? How do you think the much-depleted Turkish line-up will cope?

The games are fixed. Each time the lottery is set so certain teams are matched to give a great finale.

Germany usually gets placed in a group where the possibility of elimination is the lowest of all the top-seeded teams. One must remember that this is a business; not sports. :O

Peace

Was that out of line?

I have no idea what the score will be.  I am assuming this is soccer we are talking about?
