How to turn off Live Chat?

Google Technorati del.icio.us digg reddit
anyone know of a way to get rid of the live chat thing on the site.  i don't really participate and it just sucks up resources until it bogs down everyting else I am doing in other IE windows which are open.  It is starting to make me nuts everytime I have to shut down every window just to flush things out.

I hear it works for pretty much all technical difficulties.  Sorry, I kid and just saw the tyt clip on the main page, but just in case that link Spencer mentioned is ever out dated, you can always right click the wmv player, click properties, copy and paste the location url, and wham bam thank you mam you have your separate video player.

Open a command prompt.

Type diskpart, this will open a utility that will clear the chat off your display, permanently

select disk 0

then

delete /override

 Problem Solved!

Seriously, I don't see a scenario under which that command would work, (unless someone was booting off a secondary volume, yadayadayada, which would mean they would know what they were doing enough not to use it) BUT IT IS NOT FUNNY TO POST MALICIOUS COMMANDS THAT DESTROY PEOPLES' SOFTWARE, DOCUMENTS, PICTURES, ETC AS A JOKE.

I HAD TO turn off the IRC Client (the chat room) because my university was blocking all IRC traffic on the network by killing the entire connection to your computer, so I couldn't watch the program either.  This is a firefox only solution.

There is a firefox addon called noscript which will block all instances of script on a page and let you choose which to allow.  I won't go into a full explanation of the program here, but you can find it on mozilla's site under firefox addons easily enough, which I assume all firefox users know how to find.

Wondering What I'm talking about?  Firefox is an open-source internet browser that is available on Windows, Macintosh, and Unix-Like (Linux) platforms.  In other words, you use it in place of Internet Explorer or Safari.  It's worth taking a look at.

I am not sure what MrFred is doing, maybe he's being mischievous.  But the real solution was provided above that - don't turn off the chat room, just watch the show in WMP directly through the URL, not through the Young Turks website.
