My Take On Telecom Immunity

Why I like to believe that Telecom Immunity passed.

I know that a good precentage of us here are fucking infuriated by Telecom Immunity, but, in my head I've come up with why I am going to believe that the Democrats passed Telecom Immunity.

The first reason is very simple. If you put companies like Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and other phone companies in legal potential legal trouble like not passing the Telecom Immunity bill would have done, one thing is going to happen.  Your bill will go up.  They will tack on extra fees, they will bump the price up of text messages that are not part of a bundle.  They physical phones will be spendier when you go to get a new one.  The plans will cost more money.  For those with bad credit, the deposits for getting a phone will increase.  More money taken away from citizens. That is my bottom line.

The second reason is the justice system.  Without giving Bush immunity, he could go to criminal court.  And, man.  I honestly cannot see any court in this land convicting the man.  Maybe you can, but I just do not seeing that ever happening.  I think that the Democrats know this.

And the third and final reason is just what Cenk says.  It lets them hang themselves.  Less Republicans in Congress, the easier it will be to pass bills that Republicans oppose.  The better it will be in the long run.  Because, when it comes down to it, telecom immunity not passing doesn' effect me.  It doesn't matter to me if Bush goes to court or not, because we all know if he were to go to jail that he'd get a few months probation and that's it.  Anyway, that's just where I stand.

The decision to immunize can be reversed (albeit a pain in the ass).

Meanwhile its another bullet taken out of the GOP attack machine.

Dont get it twisted folks, Obama might be for change, but the politics game stays the same.

The only way he can truly change the system is by first winning the election.

First things first.

Let's also remember that this bill provides immunity for CIVIL suits only.  Criminal suits are still on the table and perfectly viable - if the Dems can prove that this action was illegal.  Of course, passing laws that grant these wiretaps can kinda stifle that notion....

I think the Dems are playing this wrong. They let this whole issue spiral out of control and will not reign it in.  It is pandering to the center, pure and simple.  I hate it.

Trolls suck!
