Montana numbers

I just finished looking at the Montana primary returns and came up with some interesting numbers.

The sitting Senator Max Baucus (D) got 61% of all the ballots cast in both primarys, incumbant Rep Denny Rehberg (R) only got 39% of all ballots cast, and the democratic presidential nomonees pulled 66% of the total vote. If that transfers over to the general election Montana could shift from a perenial Red state (65% for Bush/Cheney) to a blue state. Doesn't mean a lot with only 3 electoral votes, but could be an indicator.

A while back, I said this is the year it could be 48 states for a Dem. Of course I was laughed at. I laughed myself.

But...what if...

30 Republicans have either already left or not running for reelection in the House (& Senate? I forget)

There have already been three cases of perenial "red" going "blue."

If things keep going the way they are...
