Nightline On ABC Runs Blatant Obama Smear Piece (VIDEO)

Google Technorati del.icio.us digg reddit
I normally watch Nightline on ABC once every 3 months, if that.  But for whatever reason I had it on in the background last night.

They ran a segment on Obama that might as well have been written by Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. I'm not exaggerating, it was blatantly and gratuitously biased and unnecessary.

Watch the video, share it with anyone and everyone, and let ABC know what you think.

It's a segment that considers "who would be the last 10 people Obama would ask to join him on the ticket?"

Here are some highlights:

10) Reverend Wright. They played some inflammatory quick clip from him (of course).

9) Founder of BET Robert Johnson. ABC said this was a poor choice because he referenced Obama's past drug use.

8) William Ayers (ABC said the following almost word for word "know each other well and have worked together in the past, on the downside he was a member of a domestic terrorist group")

7) Either of Obama's Indicted Super-delegates Kwame Kilpatrick and William Jefferson (yes, they used the word indicted in the title)

PS---Yes, I sent this to Media Matters.

PPS---In addition to emailing ABC, you can also comment directly on this segment here at their website.

...what happened to the "writers" after the Fox Half Hour Newshour got cancelled. They went to work for Nightline.

Pathetic attempt at humor.

If you watch the video, they tried to present it the segment as if it were lighthearted.  It was very insidious bullshit.

Even if (insert your favorite comedian here) were to read the script for that segment, it had little comedic value. It was purely political, and a rehash of almost all of the negative talking points on Obama.

I'd love to hear Cenk rant on this topic.

This is down right insulting they need to leave comedy to the comedy shows.
Dont forget to write.

Obama's Youtube channel actually put up a clip from this broadcast, obviously more positive (link will open in new window):  http://youtube.com/watch?v= 6XmOYliJpiM

BTW Everyone should subscribe to the youtube channel, and to TYT as well!

Earlier in that same episode it seems they aired a benign little story about how Obama's campaign and using the Internet to reach out and raise money, etc.

they know that no one watches fox news anymore, so they're trying to corner the market. I got news for them, fox viewers are very loyal.

I emailed them and posted a comment.  There are some slimy comments there and I feel icky for reading them.  That was an outrageous segment!  bizarro.  I do think feedback is taken seriously and we need to let them know how we feel.  After that, start contacting their advertisers.
