On his website Informed Comment, Juan Cole has a link to a great resource for everyone who wants to get the United States out of Iraq. The Report of the Task Force for a Responsible Withdrawal from Iraq

It would be great if the Young Turks could have Professor Cole on to discuss this document, and help promote it.

Professor Juan Cole today has a link to the Report of the Task Force for a Responsible Withdrawal from Iraq, on his website Informed Comment. This report is a summary of twenty-five initiatives based around the purpose of national reconciliation; regional cooperation; Iraqi security; and Iraqi recovery.

This report was specifically adopted to counter the "Won't there be a bloodbath and regional chaos if we leave?" argument. The group who put together this report were not trying to fix all things in Iraq or create conditions of 'victory' for the U.S. instead they limited their task to thinking clearly about how the US can exit Iraq in a relatively short timeline while also being responsible to the very real needs of Iraq and its people.

It is a great report, and gives clear and strong arguments about how the US can leave Iraq responsibly.
Check it out at Juan Cole's Informed Comment:

If you agree with me about what a great resource this is, ask the Young Turks to have on Juan Cole, and forward this report to Barak Obama, and every Democratic Senator and Congressman.

I believe we need to promote this. Make sure it gets out there.

In fact, he was on not all that long ago to discuss Iraq.  I'm sure he'll be on again in the relatively near future.

I can remember at least once when Professor Cole was on - that's 20 minutes of pure non entertaining academic Hell I'll never get back!! If you're gonna recommend guests, please make sure they have a pulse (or at least one that will maintain ours!) Thanks... :)

It can't be all laugh out loud, rip roaring fun Bobo. One thing I love about TYT  is that it's incredibly entertaining AND informative. They strike a good balance, in part precisely because they invite people like Cole on as well as economists, etc.

It's the perfect middle ground between Thom Hartmann (I love his show but it can be incredibly dry and draining) and Stephanie Miller (i.e. fart jokes, impersonations, sound effects, laughing at your own jokes repeatedly, etc.).

I like to actually learn new things on the show.

He seems to be outright hostile to them, in fact.

Since you and I both do that teaching thing all day, I think you can understand why when I listen to radio and blog I don't want to exert the energy to create academic "glory". I don't need to do all that fancy "learning" because I'm already smarter than most of you guys here anyway - (there are a few notable exceptions - Lord Foul, TWBA, Ken and IHNB) Plus, that Dr. Cole is a drag - reminds me of my old psyche professors... :)
