Phil Gramm isnt the only one who doesnt live like us here on the ground!

Google Technorati del.icio.us digg reddit
This really pisses me off - All of you Obama defenders listen up!

Now, I will start off by saying that Phil Gramm is a douche. Texan, wealthy and totally out of it when it comes to reality. What he said today was reprehensible. I wont link to it, y'all know what he said...

What pisses me off is that I hear and look up the fact what Michelle Obama TODAY says to a group of women in Pontiac Michigan - heres the MSNBC link -

http://firstread.msnbc.msn. com/archive/2008/07/09/1190 066.aspx

"Barack's approach is that the short-term quick fix kinda stuff sounds good," she continued. "And it may even feel good that first month when you get that check. And then you go out and you buy a pair of earrings," she joked." - Michelle Obama

WHY ISN'T THIS BEING REPORTED ON THE MSM? WHY ARENT PEOPLE UP IN ARMS WITH SUCH AN ELITIST STATEMENT!!! THE GAUL AND ARROGANCE OF THIS WOMAN IS ASTOUNDING - WHO THE HELL HAS THE MONEY AMONG THEIR SUPPORTERS TO BY $600 EARRINGS???!!?

God dammit, if the media is gonna jump on stupid ass Phil Gramm, they better fucking jump all over Michelle Obama for essentially saying the same thing (Or at least indicating that she is so out of touch to think that we're gonna run out and buy $600 earrings!!!)

Its not funny, its not a joke - the arrogance and snobbery of this woman is disgusting... She needs to keep her mouth shut!

And another thing - The article says Pontiac is south of Detroit - as a geography teacher, I must bitch at MSNBC and tell them Pontiac is in fact NORTH of Detroit - fucking morons!!!

I know you guys will rag on and dismiss this as "a joke" or "another one of Bobo's rants, but you have to admit somewhere deep down this is Bullshit - MAN OF THE PEOPLE MY ASS!!!!

Maybe old Jesse Jackson was onto something... I dont like being talked down to either!!!

Think about this - replace the name Michelle Obama with Cindy McCain attached to that very same statement - How do you figure the MSM would react?

THEY WOULD GO APE-SHIT AND YOU KNOW IT!!!!

Weren't you just talking about how the media loves McCain?

Have another White Russian quick before you have an aneurysm over the biggest non-issue in the world.  Just breathe...

Now that I am more calm (not really), I will acknowledge that this isnt the end all be all of the campaign, but it is a stark demonstration of the attitudes and beliefs of the Obama's and I think it gives us some insight into their true colors...

The elitism demonstrated should be disheartening for anyone believing that this man (and his lovely wife) want to change how things are done - they are showing themselves to be no better than their opponents in this respect, and people are noticing, despite your precious poll numbers...

And I said the media likes John McCain, not Cindy - if she would have been the one to say this, the pitchforks and torches in the MSM would have been out in full force IMMEDIATELY and you're being blatantly dishonest to yourself and others if you think they wouldnt...

Thanks for your comments, as always Spence...

The press is biased towards Michelle Obama.  That's what it is.

I could argue this back and forth with you for thirty or forty comments, but at the end of the day, who would really give a fuck?  I'll just say this; who do you think is more in your corner economically?  This link (and the three links inside of it) may help you come to a conclusion.

She was stealing prescription drugs from her charity because she was a junkie?  How much coverage do you see of that???

Total bullshit, bobo.

Michelle said this crap YESTERDAY!!! And Cindy's BS has been vetted and put through the ringer - her dope, her money, her tax withholdings, McCains first wife is all old news - plus we expect Republicans to be elitist snobs - something would be amiss if the McCains were seen as "normal"!!!

Can you offer any evidence that the media has been tougher on Cindy McCain than Michelle Obama?

You throw around the allegation of elitism yet what evidence do you have of elitism?

Cindy McCain born into wealth, never worked a job because she needed to, never been without. Now to her credit she worked with special needs children, which is great, but she had the financial ability to make that decision.

Michelle Obama, born into a lower middle class family, whose father worked two jobs to get her through college.

Cindy McCain has a fortune estimated at over 100 million dollars, that she inherited.

Michelle Obama and her husband have a fortune of about 4 million which is from her salary for a law firm, Barak's salary in the Senate, and two book sales.

Cindy McCain was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona.

Michelle Obama was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago.

While at USC Cindy McCain was a cheerleader and a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.

While at Princeton University, Michelle Obama graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts. She wrote a thesis entitled, "Princeton-Educated Blacks and the Black Community," as part of her requirements for graduation. Michelle Obama then went to Harvard Law School where she worked on getting more minorities hired as professors.

Please tell me again who is the Elitist?

I certainly am not under any disillusion that Cindy McCain is not a Rich Bitch elitist snob - I am fully aware of that and you will get no argument from me!

I will also concur that Michelle Obama comes from more humble beginnings and has become very successful in her own right through hard work and achievement. I will not argue this point either...

My contention is the simple idea that if Cindy McCain would have made this statement about $600 earrings, she would have been run through the ringer in the MSM and been lambasted as being the elitist snob bitch that she is. McCain would have been defenseless in trying to defend that.

What do we hear from the MSM since Michelle Obama said it?

(Cue the Crickets here)...

Thats what pisses me off. I dont like coming to the defense of the Mccain family - I live in Phoenix, I know what they are - but God Dammit why is Phil Gramm being offered as sacrifice and Michelle Obama isnt?

And despite her humble beginnings, the fact is that Michelle Obama is also a multimillionare Rich Bitch Elitist Snob just like Cindy McCain - She might not have as much, but she has enough, no worries - no one in her family is going hungry, dont worry...

Again, I think its a matter of being talked down to, as Reverend Jackson has alluded to in the past few days... The Obama's are seemingly becoming more aloof and distant from the rabble who vote for him - This man of the people shit is so fake its sickening...

Michelle Obama does not get a free pass simply because she's not "old money" and she had to "earn" it - Im sure we could debate that issue for hours...

Thanks for your response!

Like Lew Ayers?

Like Obama's drug use?

Like Reverend Wright's sermons?

Puh-lease!

How many mentions of Cindy McCain's stealing drugs from her charity have you ever heard on the MSM?

by ProfRich on 07/11/2008 01:22:23 PM EST

All of those "old" Obama stories directly relate to him, not her... If John McCain had stolen drugs, we'd be talking about old Mormon Mitt as the opponent... Nice try, but again as you would say "weak sauce"... :)

And the other two times he got busted peddling influence.

They talk about those ALL the time, huh?

Or leaving his wife?  Or abusing her?

His association with Keating in general, or Liddy?

Yeah, you make a great case.

Why isn't Obama hammering McCain on this? The Keating 5 should disallow McCain from his freedom let alone running from office... Remember, I might not be a Liberal, but I sure as Hell hate McCain just as much as you do! I just wish the MSM would hammer the Obama's when they play the snob card, that's all - I'm tired of them getting a free ride from the Media... Thanks again! :)

In the last 24 hours alone McCain has flat out lied about his endorsement by numerous veteran's groups to a veteran (its all one video)

Had his chief economic advisor, longtime close personal friend and the man he campaigned for for president in 1996 say the recession was made up and the result of us all being a bunch of whiners.  (Granted thats no Lew Ayers story or anything...)

Sat there and muttered stupidly when asked about this.  He finally ended up explaining he doesn't really know shit about what he votes for or against.

Now how much media coverage is this stuff getting?

Bobo, take the medication and join us back in the land of reality.  We like you so much better that way.

Rich -

As indicated in my original posting, I addressed the Phil Gramm thing and called it reprehensible - Its been all over the damn Cable news non-stop all day...

The Viagra/birth control event (with the upcoming famous "Oh Shit" eye roll McCain gave) was all over the Cable News MSM media all day as well. Bound to be a classic, Im sure...

Veterans group endorsements? Who the Hell cares, veterans arent gonna be supporting someone like Obama anyway unlesss they are totally dependent on government services and monies, and even then its a long shot...

Michelle Obama talking down at common people comlaining that the $600 stimulus check would only buy a pair of earrings, "Then what"? - NOT A FUCKING STORY??? No headlines, no continuous video loop (ala the McCain Eyeroll?)

You have got to be kidding, right professor?

What is it you guys say? "Weak Sauce"? Yeah - come back when you're not peddling BS or when Texas actually gets the same news coverage as the rest of the country!!!

Sheesh...

"I know you guys will rag on and dismiss this as 'a joke' or 'another one of Bobo's rants'..."  You're right on about that.  Done, and done.

by Spencer on 07/11/2008 03:24:27 AM EST

Now the earring remark was silly or stupid, and didn't really make sense. Not sure why she went there.

The beginning of the quote that you didn't highlight was this:
"You're getting $600," she [Michelle Obama] told an audience of mostly African-American women in Detroit. "What can you do with that? Not to be ungrateful or anything. But maybe it pays down a bill, but it doesn't pay down every bill every month."

Which is true.

by jrolsen on 07/11/2008 10:13:39 AM EST

If she would have stopped at the first part, it would have been a great point made and no harm no foul... But she had to take that extra step and dislay her elitist viewpoint for the sake of her misguided attempt at "humor" Totally not funny - and my point is - Where the Hell is the media coverage?? Where's the "she doesn't understand working people" line they dump on the Republicans? That's what pisses me off - total double standard! :)

You have totally abandoned your- "No really, I'm a democrat" bullshit, right?

by ProfRich on 07/11/2008 10:37:45 AM EST

I don't think Michelle necessarily meant you spend the entire $600 on one pair of earrings; rather, you get that check and say, "oh looky", and feel better and go out and treat yourself to some little frippery and all's right with the world - for a day or a week.

by ashbul on 07/11/2008 10:20:00 AM EST

But, you see, bobo was looking for the worst possible way one could spin it, such that Michelle would look as bad as possible.

Second I thought this was a good a place as any to post the much less responded on Gramm clarification and McCain response.

Gramm would explain he meant the economy is awesome for rich people and he wishes all those irrelevant pissant non-rich people would just shut the fuck up and relax and enjoy the rape.

McCain reacted to the fiasco with this:

"You youngsters are always griping about something or 'nother.  Economy!  When I was your age we didn't even have an economy.  We just had those round rocks with the square holes in them.  Do you have any idea how hard it is hauling enough of those to the agora to pay for a decent hooker?  But you damn kids today are all spoiled with your checkbooks and telegraph machines. Get off my lawn!"

by ProfRich on 07/11/2008 10:29:54 AM EST

Michelle Obama: Never proud of her country

Cindy McCain: Stole a cookie recipe

Case closed, once again a clear pro-Obama bias in the MSM.

On as side note are you still even pretending to be a moderate Democrat anymore?  Since all you do is kiss Ken's ass at every opportunity and play the "Dems do it too" card whenever Repubs fuck up, it is kind of hard to tell.

Palin in 2012? Bitch, please! No, really, please run in 2012, bitch. ;)

by richardshort2001 on 07/11/2008 02:12:29 PM EST

Bobo, Sorry to make this personal, but this is just too much. Did you honestly read that remark and think Michelle Obama was saying that she would spend her entire $600 check on earrings? Or that she is somehow elitist because  of that comment? I've read a lot of your perplexing posts and now I am beginning to understand how that mind of yours veers off the road of reason toward conclusions that I would never be able to dream up. And I gotta say it's a scary thing.

by Verified1 on 07/11/2008 04:50:24 PM EST

Bobo, you lose all credibility when you go off on dumb stuff like this.  Who cares about a dumb joke?  Michele's not running for president.
