"AP: Kermit D Frog ,Muppet and environmentalist, died Wednesday from complications from global warming. He was 45. He was interred during a private ceremony at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC.

He is survived by Miss Piggy, Bert, Ernie ,Big Bird and 32,000 endangered tadpoles.

The skinny, green frog became the most enduring Muppet , in part because Jim Henson considered Kermit to be his alter-ego.

Friends report that Kermit's demise was due to bouts of severe depression over the environment and his refusal to give up his favorite pond that has been severely impacted by decreasing water supplies in California. Kermit (and his pond) succumbed to dehydration and substance abuse last Wednesday.

Meanwhile in related news, the Bush Administration Friday rejected its own experts' conclusion that global warming poses a threat to the public welfare, launching a comment period that will delay action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at least until the next president takes office.

An EPA official who worked on the rejected reports said Friday's announcement was unprecedented because agency staffers did not have a chance to respond to other agencies' criticism. "How do you respond to comments you've never even seen?" said the official, speaking on condition of anonymity because of fear of retribution.

The impetus for federal action came from a Supreme Court decision in April 2007 that rebuked the administration and ruled that carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases were air pollutants subject to federal regulation under the Clean Air Act. If the EPA found they were a threat to the public, the court said, the agency was required to produce regulations to reduce the risk.

By not taking a stand on the health impact of the pollutants and seeking new public comment instead, the administration extended the period before the government can act beyond Jan. 20, 2009 -- when the next president will be inaugurated.

When asked about global warming Miss Piggy, long time "friend" of Mr. Frog responded:

< An unsuspecting Miss Piggy during a recent embarrassing wardrobe malfunction at the Emmys. The FCC fined ABC the very next day...>

" Those greedy SOB's should be strung up by the ( deleted) and ( deleted) without (deleted). A little bacon pops out and they fine me(!)..the world is drying up from too much C02 and they cover it up! . Got it?"

So much for the rule of law. More death, economic loss and suffering all to save a few profits for big contributors.

Tony Snow died today at the age of 53, I assume from cancer complications.

At first I thought your thread was going to be about that although I had no idea how you'd connect Kermit into the mix.

I never wished any physical harm to him, I'll leave that to the Michael Savages/Michael Reagans of the world.

This is too much bad news all at once... Abby's last day, Tony Snow dies, and we lose da Frog.  Man, I'm really gonna miss Abby and Kermit.  They never lied to me.

You were the Kurt Cobain of your generation, Kermit.  May you find your Rainbow Connection.

Say, is Miss P dating seeing anyone?
