I assume that he just misspoke and that, after all, he was probably referring to that small "border region" between Iraq and Pakistan known as "Iran." McCain has been consistent all along that he wants to secure, i.e,. subdue, that border region so his comment wasn't all that off base.
McCain is a never ending barrel of laughs.
For those who haven't seen it, Juan Cole has a new essay showing what a bumbling fool McCain was in his response to Katie Couric telling her that Obama gave "a false depiction of what actually happened" when it was McCain who was aactually creating the false history .
