NPR finds people starving, in America!

Enjoy stories like this while you still can, because after Obama is elected, you won’t hear bullshit like this for four years. Somehow, Democrat presidents are magically able to eliminate poverty, homelessness, and starvation.

They really look hungry.

“The rising cost of food means their money gets them about a third fewer bags of groceries — $100 used to buy about 12 bags of groceries, but now it's more like seven or eight. So they cut back on expensive items like meat, and they don't buy extras like ice cream anymore. Instead, they eat a lot of starches like potatoes and noodles.”

I want to keep the small government that Bush gave us.
Borrow and spend  is much better for us. Borrow from the Chinese, spend  on corporate welfare. How much better does it get than that. As Jesus said:"tax cuts for the wealthy, bootstraps for the poor"!It's The Christian thing to do.

is because of overt liberal bias.

Poverty and homelessness didn't disappear during the Clinton years in the 1990s. All that happens is that the press stops talking about poverty and homelessness whenever a Democrat is in the White House.

Poverty and homelessness have dramatically increased under Bush.  Just as they did under Reagan.

This false construct of "if there is any it has to be reported equally is stupid.

There is more now.  Much more.  Therefore they are reporting it.  Makes sense.

"Poverty and homelessness have dramatically increased under Bush."

There is inaccuracy and prevarication in every post he makes.

why bother.

did you read the article ken? its a one year study. this disproves Rich....how? I think its great that chronic homelessness went down, but its really unclear how to interpret that piece. They've go new methods, there are different factors coming into play. Homelessness down 33% in California? In a year? Do you have any kind of internal quality control in your wee little brain? What's the "continuum of care" a reference to? A social program? Either way this is a cheap shot. Inaccuracy and prevarication is a surprisingly good description of your own post. I'm not trying to be ironic.

Here is more than one year of data, you know, if you wanted to make a comparison or somethin'

Actual Relevant information

Since 02, the number appears to have broken 37 million.

Apparently, Ken's idea of "unbiased media" would be to run a lot of stories about how poverty is such an epidemic while Clinton was lifting 7 million people or so out of poverty.   Yeah, that makes sense.

Weren't some people jsut arguing in another thread that because there were more millionaires the economy was better? Combine the increase in millionaires and the increase in poverty and it seems like exactly what you would expect with a republican president.

Don't talk about religion or politics, my ass!

I'd like to see your scorecard from the last 3 months on this election thing.  I mean you'd think if the media had an overt liberal bias the most important thing would be constantly talking about every mistake and not-really-a-mistake-but-so me-liberal-called-it-one, while going out of their way to edit the liberal's mistakes out of his interviews right?

Surely not the other way around.

It only takes one missed keystroke to change "covert" to "overt."  Maybe Ken's greasy fingers got the better of him.  Either way, the whole premise of a liberal bias in the mainstream media is far-fetched like a pair of rocket boots.  And I like my science fiction written by professional writers, not delusional republicans who like making fun of people only slightly more obese than themselves.

This is NPR illustrating the ridiculousness of the media and our collective stupidity as a nation - those broads need some serious grocery cutbacks before they are in any sort of "need"...

I actually disagree with Ken on this - This shits gonna get a whole lot worse in terms of media and its gonna cost us Billions to feed these kinds of hefers for the next 4 years!!!

Jesus!!!!

I've been paying high taxes and supporting welfare bums for many, many years. It never fails, when a Democrat gets in the White House, the media quits talking about subjects like homelessness and hunger. Then, four years later, when Obama gets his ass kicked out in disgrace and humiliation, here come the poverty stories again.

OK, I can see where you are coming from - Just a question here - what stories will be prevelant - Home Grown Terrorists, Anti Church/Religion tripe perhaps? As for the 2 hefers, I suppose its glandular, right? :)

They're just big-boned, or perhaps they just enjoy big bones. You nailed it bobo, HOME GROWN TERRORISTS! All white men will be profiled suspects. In July 2004, Kerry was leading. In July 1988, Dukakis was leading. In July 1984, Mondale was leading. Voters act a lot different than telephone poll respondants. They can pull that lever without people knowing they're racist.

Ken is trying to claim that somehow the polls are inaccurate and should be dismissed because they showed these other candidates with a lead and they lost.

But in each case the polls changed as the election neared and predicted the winner, usually pretty accurately.

But Ken is suggesting the polls are wrong because people lie to pollsters when his own examples say the polls are right right now but may change.

Maybe they will, I don't know but try to follow the thread of logic in Ken's post is like trying to understand what the hell that senile old bastard McCain is talking about when he talks about the Counterin"SURGE"n cy.

Just doesn't add up.

by ProfRich on 07/27/2008 10:21:22 PM EST

ProfRich, I can't help but see no logic - is that possible; Ken's no logic as viewable?  Is there logic in Ken's attempt?  At what? And, are the two obese women a cover to say something about the media?  The Dems in the White House?  Republicans are good guys were it not for the last 30 years of coverage?  Is he for or against poverty?  He don't like fat ladies?  He does, but can't explain why by using pictures?

I'm sorry Prof..., I don't see any logic

A 60-year-old church usher has been hailed a hero after shielding other members of his congregation from a gunman who opened fire during a Sunday morning gathering in Tennessee.

The motive of Mr Adkisson, who was not recognised by witnesses, are a mystery, but one church member, Barbara Kemper, said she heard him say “hateful words”.

Why doesn't Ken put his link's on his ( racist ?) rants?

Well, because the actual story, isn't about two overweight women who are "starving"...a photo picked by Ken and to illicit a negative response, or overtly racist responses ( see bobo )...

So when you hear disingenuous spin like this and garbage about liberal media bias:

Enjoy stories like this while you still can, because after Obama is elected, you won’t hear bullshit like this for four years. Somehow, Democrat presidents are magically able to eliminate poverty, homelessness, and starvation.

Keep in mind the part Ken and his conservative buddies don't want you to read is this;

Struggling In Ohio As The Economy Tightens

Tough economic times can affect families' emotional states in addition to their wallets.

Wow imagine the audacity of the liberal media to say that tough economic times can affect families' emotional states in addition to their wallets!  I guess tough economic times in Republican administrations don't do that...its all in our heads...oh sorry, he got fired...my bad.)

A generation ago, the livelihood of Gloria Nunez's family was built on cars.

Her father worked at General Motors for 45 years before retiring. Her mother taught driver's education. Nunez and her six siblings grew up middle class.

Things have changed considerably for this Ohio family.

This part really grates on conservative nerves...Low-income families. Of course to Ken its all there fault..in Texas everyone makes 120K a year...ask Ken.

Low-income families in Ohio say they are particularly hard-hit by the changes in the economy, according to a new poll conducted by NPR, The Kaiser Family Foundation and Harvard School of Public Health. Two-thirds of lower-income respondents, or 66 percent, say paying for gas is a serious problem because of recent changes in the economy. Nearly half of low-income Ohioans, or 47 percent, say that getting a well-paying job or a raise in pay is also major problem.
