Shooting The Messengers: Gunman Targets "Liberals"

Google Technorati del.icio.us digg reddit
Over the weekend, years of conservative hate speech reached a deadly crescendo when Jim D. Adkisson walked into Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church and opened fire. His reason?

AdkissonLimblast claimed  he couldn't find a job and expressing a profound "hatred for the liberal movement" and further ranting that "liberals and gays" were taking jobs and had prevented him from finding work. Adkisson acted on what the conservative talk radio has been advocating for years.

There is no dissent if you kill the dissenters.

Figuratively, by character assassination, misinformation and outright lies and now...literally. We've all heard it. Coulter's "satire" about murdering liberals, G Gordon Liddys "head shot" show, Limbaugh's disinformation and veiled threats and invocations of political violence against all those who disagree with him, O Reilly, Savage, the list goes on.

Even on these pages we have "conservatives" who relish violence against any diversity of opinion, in all its forms. We have all read the misogynistic hate and misguided machismo of these posts. One even advocated the "hanging" of Cenk , myself and others who opposed the Iraq war. Other "conservatives" have advocated violence in various forms against, among others, homeless, gays and the poor. Consider this gem of tolerence from conservative "pastor" Jerry Falwell:

But these things speak evil of those things, verse 10 [reading from Jude] which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. Look at the Metropolitan Community Church today, the gay church, almost accepted into the World Council of Churches. Almost, the vote was against them. But they will try again and again until they get in, and the tragedy is that they would get one vote. Because they are spoken of here in Jude as being brute beasts, that is going to the baser lust of the flesh to live immorally, and so Jude describes this as apostasy. But thank God this vile and satanic system will one day be utterly annihilated and there'll be a celebration in heaven.

Adkisson as it turns out was an out-of-work mechanical engineer. Obviously not an uneducated man, he left a four-page letter in his car that was abandoned in the church parking lot in which he railed against liberals and the fact that he had been unable to get a job since 2006.

Adkisson was also angry that his food stamps were about to be reduced or eliminated.

Like most "conservatives" he was clueless about who was really impacting his life, namely his job being outsourced and the anger at his cut in benefits and the disappearance of those conservative boot straps we hear so much about.

As it turns out the cuts were at the hands of Republican "conservatives" being more "fiscally responsible" to pay for additional state tax cuts and Bush Administration's compassionate plan to cut food stamp benefits to about 185,000 people in the U.S. for 2007-2008.

Well buck up Ditto-heads ,things arent all bad. The consevatives can look on the bright side,  if the parishioners had been packing heat...

If he has a degree in Mechanical Engineering, it's very unlikely that his job has been outsourced.  I think the more logical explanation is that he has some "personality quirks" that are keeping him from getting a job in the Engineering field, so he was refusing to take anything lower on the pay scale.

Actually he is probably poorly educated--getting an Engineering degree usually doesn't require anyone to know anything about Government.  Everything he ever learned about politics, he learnt from Fat Roundbaugh and Sean Insanity.   He's merely one of the soldiers in the Conservative movement.  Doing the right thing by gunning down Liberals who want to turn him gay and take away his tools for committing murder, which are an inalienable right.

I'm with Cenk's theory on all of this, though.  If the guy had just been getting laid he probably never would have gone to the trouble of all this.  I'm glad we actually caught a "live one".  Maybe law enforcement (and the general public) have caught on to the fact that we want to catch these perps alive so they actually have to live with the consequences of what they do.

And in closing--this wins the award as the Most Ironic Story in history.

You're not serious , are you?  ASME estimate that 60% of US companies will outsource at least 50% of the ME positions...US wide we will lose estimated (low)3.3 million to (high) 14 million...professional jobs .That's the number of U.S. jobs expected to be lost overseas by 2015.

Please get real.

95% of those jobs will be replaced with other, possibly lower paying jobs, but there's no reason an engineer should be out of work in this time of relative prosperity for those who work in the tech field.  I think his problem is more likely due to depression and derangement more than some external market force.

I am currently an engineering student and we have professors (even ME professors) trying to convince the Mechanical students to seriously consider changing their focus to a different engineering discipline if they want to find employment after graduation.

I live about 50 mi from Knoxville and have never been in the place of worship but know exactly where it is. In the Knoxville News Sentinel, the local paper, (republican owned but fairly balanced in their letters to the editor etc) the articles I read show just how luney the Liberal mind set is.  It was reported that this church welcomed agnostics, atheists', & buddist. They even welcomed gay people, homeless people, and people of all colors and backgrounds, and ethnicity. They sheltered undocumented aliens and the list goes on.  What a nasty unamerican bunch of worshipers.  Serioursly, the church offered programs for the sick (Good Faith Clinic) with volunteers from the medical profession, clothing for the homeless, educational programs for illerate, all on their dime.  I also read they could not acquire any assistance from the "faith based initiative ".

Now; the conservative element in this country claim that liberals are a bunch of weak kneed puzzies.  A member of this church stood up and placed himself directly in the line of fire and took a (per the Sentinel) "gutshot" from the shotgun blast to keep the children and other individuals from being shot. Per reports he died soon thereafter.  Now thats what I call a bleeding heart liberal coward.  One of the people that died was visiting from a sister church accross town.

Obviously this individual was deranged.  However, as demonstrated by the letter he left, he evinced distorted thoughts and behaviors that perhaps were propagated by the right wing hate spewers.

It does not matter where this dudes head was or whether his job was outsourced or if he adhered to  the wingnut ideology.  The fact of the matter is this is a tragedy of emence proportions. It is beginning to be a common occurrance accross our country.  But in a place of worship? Man!

This post really rings a few bells for me.

I know this older man, about 75 years old very, very well.  He was a barber for years and years.  He is as conservative as the day is long.  He watches O'Reilly religiously and always votes republican no matter what.  He retired about a decade ago and has only a small Social Security income, but he lives a very comfortable life of ease staying up till the early hours of the morning and sleeping till noon.  His wife, whom he dated for several years and married about a decade ago is unabashedly liberal.  She only quit working as a freelance abstracter this year at the age of 75 and has been supporting him all of this time, paying for vacations for both of them every year and putting away money for both of them to live on.  He moved into her house when they got married, before that he lived in a little shack that he rented from his sister.  He was in the Navy for 4 years in the mid-50s.  He lives with lung problems that stem from exposure to asbestos on the destroyer he was on.  The government refuses to acknowledge or take responsibility for his exposure, although the VA does do regular chest X-rays for him.  He has to travel 100 miles to get VA treatment.   He was recently diagnosed with lung cancer and relied on his wife's private health insurance for chemo and radiation and surgery, since his VA benefits were nowhere close to being as good as the insurance she is providing for him, all out of her own pocket.  She also paid the out-of-pocket expenses for his medical bills, since he has no savings.  If it weren't for her, he would still be living in his little shack on a few hundred dollars a month from Social Security at best, and at worst be dead of cancer by now.  If it weren't for Social Security he wouldn't even have been able to afford the shack, and he'd be living off of his children instead.  He often complains of the sparse facilities of the VA.

It's very difficult to listen to this man start one of his conservative diatribes when he owes his comfortable existence to his liberal wife, what little income he has to Social Security and the few health benefits outside of those provided by his wife to the VA.

His entire existence is now dependent on the kindness of a liberal and on the social programs that the Republicans have struggled to undermine and shut down completely with the support and votes of fools just like him.

What do you do with people who are so blindly ideological that they fume against their own life support systems?

by bfaul on 07/28/2008 03:11:09 PM EST

I can't recall how many hate speach sermons I've seen and these weren't in some small churches, no big ass megachurches where the preacher spews as much hatred against gays, liberals, muslims, ... as the "islamo fascists" do against America

it will a be glorious day when ordinary Americans will finally understand that radical christians, radical muslims, radical jews, ... are part of the same movement and finally will turn their backs to all this hatred being preached in name of christianity, country, the children or whatever bogus reason and see it for what it is: hate, it doesn't matter that it comes with a stamp "approved by jesus"

by callisto on 07/28/2008 03:13:28 PM EST

crickets. The "truth" about conservatives has been revealed. They are hollowed out angry little excuses for human beings, caught up in the very government programs they claim to despise and slipping through the cracks as their representatives in congress and the whitehouse sell them out for pennies. They've drawn the shortest straw and when they can't take it anymore they resort to criminality and violence. So sad.

by hazmat on 07/28/2008 04:57:32 PM EST

Is that you actually believe that listening to conservative talk actually makes you a stark raving mad killing machine... I'm sure this man had unfortunate circumstances. I'm sure that he probably did get outsourced and had a hard time of it. But to equate this singular situation to the listening of talk radio is completely absurd and small minded... This man's mental issues aside, I'm sure that in his mind he had been pushed to the brink - A LOT of Americans are being pushed to the brink, and they see no relief in sight from either party this election cycle, and that is pissing a whole chunk of the population off... Its not because they listen to Rush or Hannity - its because they're tired of seeing the good engineering jobs going to H1B visa holders from the Punjab that will work for 5 dollars an hour when the job used to pay 20!!! They are getting sick and tired of being told that they are to blame for the ills of the world. They are sick and tired of Blacks parading around calling each other the N word and getting a free pass from the Liberal establishment. They are tired of welfare mothers driving around in new cars with Iphones while their families don't qualify. They are tired of going to McDonalds or Taco Bell and dealing with stupid fuckers who don't speak English while trying to place an order. They are tired of their teenagers not having any job prospects because the businesses want to save a buck by hiring foreigners. They are tired and pissed when they see the laws of this country being selectively enforced on both ends of the wealth spectrum. They're pissed that they have to have Liberalism crammed down their throats each and every day by the MSM and being told that if they don't accept it that they are "bigots" or "racists" or "homophobes". They are upset that they have the "gay, black, womens, transexual, hispanic and whoever elses agenda" rammed into their anus everyday by eggheaded pointy dick Liberals who tell them they should just "all get along!!!" People are getting really pissed, hazmat. Now I hope that they choose not to take their anger out on innocents (especially children), but maybe its gonna take a few more of these terrible instances for people to recognize that there is an abounding menace encompassing us all, and its far larger than some stupid ass talk radio show!!! I welcome your thoughts from happyland now...

Um, I hate to break it to you, but it's generally Republicans who promote the "free trade" that leads to outsourcing and wage depression.

The Republican party is also split on undocumented workers, with the more powerful end throwing bones to the racists and xenophobes (FENCE<FENCE<FENCE!) while protecting the *real* culprits, i.e. the businesses that exploit cheap labor and depress wages and benefits.

Also, as Cenk has pointed out, welfare makes up (at most) 1% of the total federal budget. Maybe you think that's a lot but Republicans piss away WAY more money on pointless wars and fraudulent contractors and no-bid contracts.

Finally, it cracks me up to learn about all of these minority agendas that are supposedly shoved down my throat every day.

Guess what? I'm a white male. I'm not Christian (although I was baptised and have attended a Catholic church many times in my life) but I'm not a minority unless you consider that I'm sorta bi-lingual and my that my parents weren't born here.

Again, I laugh at the poor, put-upon majority. The biggest trick the Republicans have is to convince you that the powerful/rich/opportunity laden majority is disenfranchised by a handful of minority groups (including gays).

As usual they blame the victim and side with the powerful interest groups. Like my conservative acquaintance that thinks I'm "too hard" on the oil companies. It's sad really...like someone rooting for Ivan Drago to beat Rocky.

There is no need for you to lecture me on the root causes of the ills I describe - believe me, you are not speaking to the blind or illiterate... What you and most liberals fail to understand is that what this guy who shot up the church in Tennessee perceived to be the cause of his rage cannot be explained using words like "disenfranchised" and "xenophobe" or "outsourcing" - intelligent words for you and I, but to Joe "shoot up the Unitarians" Sixpack, those words are meaningless... What they see is foreigners taking their jobs, both here and abroad. What they see is homosexuals, hoochies and hippies overriding their TV. What they hear is that if they are anti Gay marraige, then they are bad. What they know is that they're paying bookoo in taxes (perceived or otherwise) and watching the welfare mothers use their food cards and Iphones at the same time. You can sit there with your charts and graphs and polls and tell me (and them) that the cause of their Hell is Conservatives and Bush, but you will be hard pressed to make a significant change in their perception because you do not seem to relate to or understand their position and reasoning - telling me for example that you "laugh at the poor put on majority" not only shows me your contempt for those who do not think as you do, but it also points out the Liberals greatest weakness - their arrogance and belief that only they know all the answers. This is why Liberalism doesnt win in America - there are a lot more people who think like Joe Sixpack than there are of you, Tom. Thanks for your time, as always.

If Joe "I Hate Black People" Sixpack is poor enough to be visiting Taco Bell and McDonald's as regularly as you say he does, then his income is probably too low to qualify for taxation (the number of Americans who fall into this category would astound you, not to mention that it would severely handicap conservative mantras about the evils of taxation).  And if he's making more than that, then I'm sure he's not frequenting Taco Bell and McDonald's, because the last thing he wants is to end up like the two fat women in that moronic post Ken made about NPR the other day.

because I didn't mention talk radio and half your post was about talk radio, but just the same I want to focus your attention on this comment:

"but maybe its gonna take a few more of these terrible instances for people to recognize that there is an abounding menace encompassing us all"

I don't think I've taken you unfairly out of context here. You believe that terrorism is an acceptable outlet for those who feel politically agrieved. Because make no mistake, this man is a terrorist, as sure as any suicide bomber in ramallah. Clearly he hates America so much that he is prepared to kill his fellow Americans and perhaps would be willing to be martyred in the process. Bobo is saying that we need to recognize this man's pain and help him out, or we're going to continue getting terrorized. I submit to you that the man is angry and crazy, and its not my fault that he backs the wrong party against his own interests.

Nonetheless, I do not favor labeling him an enemy combatant and sending him to guantanamo, as bobo would have us do with other terrorists. He is a US citizen, and as such deserves a trial by jury of his peers, and afforded the full spectrum of rights to which he is entitled to under the constitution of the United States of America. Including the right to be presumed innocent.

Yes, even though he hates America.

we both caught the same sentence. Pretty shocking admission from bobo, don't you think? You're only about 100% right, 0% wrong. What do these f*ckheads have to complain about anyway? I'm sorry for the language in mixed company but bobo got me really pissed off. There is a politician in our midst who was treated like a messiah (anyone seen Jesus Camp?), but it isn't Barack Obama. It is George "I speak to a higher father" Bush. And he was treated that way by some of the same assholes who poke around here talking about how they've been disenfranchised because "neither party represents them". These people can get in fucking line on that score, because liberals are the ones who have been disenfranchised these past eight years. One party rammed through a right wing agenda while the other one that was supposed to be guarding the henhouse was out sipping martinis with tim russert and george stephanopolous.

I can't believe the unmitigated gall of bobo to get on here and tell me this coward in tennessee was "disenfranchised" . Let me give an alternative explanation. People like mr. bobo and mr. "I can't live with my cognitive dissonance any more so I'm going to shoot at children and strangers in a church" have delivered to us the worst government in US history (its possible that hoover's was worse but I'm not going to argue), and they have their heads buried so far up they're asses they can see daylight, so they won't own up to the GIANT CLUSTERFUCK they've gotten our nation into, or that they're gods have done potentially irreparable harm to the constitution and our system of laws. If there's anyone who has a right to go postal right now, its liberals and progressives. But we don't, because unlike these pathetic unbalanced excuses for human beings, we try to maintain our optimism about the future against all odds. We're fixers.

This rant is over.

the difference between this incident and terrorism. Politically motivated random killing of strangers by a dissillusioned guy who feels he has no recourse. And bobo has just explained to us that if we would satisfy this guys every political desire, i.e. if people would stop being gay, stop listening to rap music, stop being outsourced, and on and on, i.e. stop being american, then maybe this wouldn't happen. We have ourselves to blame says bobo. I think that makes bobo officially a terrorist sympathizer.

The difference between this guy (and the Israelis for that matter) and Al Qaeda is bobo agrees with this guy.

Terrorism is politically motivated random killing done by people you disagree with.

In the same way that Christianity is fact but other people's religion is mythology.

What the hell are you talking about? Since when can welfare buy new cars?

BYW: I've worked with "stupid fuckers" who may not know English, but are harder working more honest people than any suburban 17 year-old slacker who can actually speak English.

Wow, I can't believe people like you and the shooter exist in this day and age. I'm so glad I only see your type on the internet and on Fox Noise...

for the most inflammatory post of all time. And the most pro-terrorist post I've ever seen in the blogosphere. I don't read the con blogs, so i dunno, they're probably full of terrorist appeasement like this.

But apparently not, so here it goes -

I dont know where you live, Chris/Yasemin, but here in the Valley of the Sun, (that would be Phoenix), it is a common site whilst standing in the grocery line at Walmart or Fry's to see welfare mothers with their 4 children (and one on the way usually) paying for their booze, cigarettes and the occasonal gallon of milk with their EBT/Food Stamp cards while talking on their new Iphones. The gang tatoos usually indicate where they are from (Mexico or LA, whats the difference really) as they cart their children into their shiny yellow Hummers...

Now, I understand this does not apply to all welfare recipients - but here in my neck of the woods, it seemingly aplies to a whole lot of them, and its absolutely sickening!!! Add to the fact that most of these fucking people are illegal in the first place, running across the border with their amniotic water running down their legs making sure that their bastard children are "American citizens" doesnt help the situation....

As for your hard working illegal compatriots - LET THEM WORK WHERE THEY BELONG!!!!! They dont belong here, and they are fucking the jobs economy in this area to the point where wages are severely depressed... Now, the Liberals will say punish the businesses, and im all for that, but the problem wouldnt exist if the illegal people were not here to begin with!!!

Now I certainly dont condone violence, but I can sure see where that guy in Tennessee was coming from, and I can imagine being pushed over the edge by listening and watching the Liberals extend their open arms to such ideas as Amnesty and Government care for all. Im sure he was a bit imbalanced psychologically, but hey, a lot of people nowadays are...

As for me only existing on the internet and Fox News, let me say this - There are a whole lotta people just like me. They might not be as vocal, they might just keep it all pent up inside, but kid yourself not - we exist and are growing in numbers - You're gonna see a whole lot of my kind of people coming up from the woodwork when they elect Obama the Messiah as president...

So you sit there in your safe little delusional Obama Camelot - let the real people in the world exist and survive.... We are everywhere, and you better start accepting that fact as truth...

:)

John McCain's campaign needs to run with this. Its a real winner. Make ads shitting about illegals and wellfare moms and spend millions of dollars on it. The silent majority must be heard! John McCain is their mouthpiece!

McCain and Obama both are promising Amnesty, so why would they be on my side? This election cycle for me (especially concerning immigration) is like that episode of South Park when Stan had to pick between the Giant Douche and the Turd Sandwich. You take your pick as to which one is which this time!!! :)

I guess the heat must have gotten to you.

The very "conservatives" you seem to want emulate are selling you down the river.

Bobo, its really too late...the damage is done, wages have been driven down in many industries to the point that Americans have already moved on to new locales or professions, like Walmart Greeter , and our good "conservative" Cato and Heritage Foundation  economist friends are already adding up the profits.Consequently, they are already predicting grave economic consequences if immigrant labor is  constrained or restricted. Namely the industries in question will simply offshore completely if illegal labor is curtailed and companies are forced to pay a living wage. Hell of a thing.

As I said before

Well now, that is a problem..the fine people who support many of bobo's favorite conservative candidates are also the very ones who use illegals as a means to bust unions, drive down wages and exploit the underground economy.

They also do it overtly, like the "private " Texas Corridor, a private highway to Mexico and bypass customs no less. It will be used to drive small independent truckers out of business and bust the Longshoreman and other seagoing unions at our major ports by Walmart and other big RNC contributors.

The part I left out is the "super port " being built in western Mexico that ties the whole thing together.

Like every thing else GOP...its all about the money...as long there is a profit to be made there will never be any meaningful immigration reform in the US. The only thing to do now is accept that all the diversionary euphemisms like "guest workers and stalling tactics of Reagan, Bush I and Clinton have taken there toll.

The only solution is that these people must be assimilated in to American society in someway. In 75 years they'll be the ones bitching about the Mongolians or some other group...

I was wondering how many more cliche's and shopworn conservative talking points could be use in one response.

But to equate this singular situation to the listening of talk radio is completely absurd and small minded...

No more absurd and small minded than

but you will be hard pressed to make a significant change in their perception because you do not seem to relate to or understand their position and reasoning - telling me for example that you "laugh at the poor, put on majority" (not ) only shows me your contempt for those who do not think as you do,

So lets examine bobo's position and reasoning.

 The Myth of Conservative Logic

Did I say conservative talk radio was responsible, no, Adkisson simply acted in a manner that conservative talk radio and media has advocated for years...directly, or indirectly using the exact same " contempt" bobo decries in Ihavenobias's post. I can post reams of quotes, but that would simply be overkill. Conservatives in general and talk radio in particular make absolutely no attempt , in bobo's words, understand the position and reasoning of those they demean, denigrate and advocate violence against.

Current conservative discourse is simply Bushes schoolyard philosophy of "your for me or against me"  carried to ridiculous extremes. It has not always been the case, old school conservatives could make a reasonable points about any issue with out resorting to the preferred tactics of many  of what passes for modern conservatives.

For example, Conservatives for years have railed at the music and movie industry for its so called glorification of drug use and sex and yes, advocating the gay lifestyle.

The religious right and there fellow travelers would have you believe that the media is responsible for behaviors they find abhorrent and are behind a secret "agenda" In fact , according to religous conservatives, these very groups are responsible for Katrina, 9/11 and the entire hosts of ills that have befallen our nation.

Oddly, no spirited protest of the violence in the media from our esteemed keepers of the US moral compass, just lip service. Thats because conservatives are violent people in general, to wit:

Everyone knows Glocks are for pussies - I have real guns...

Please... bobo, save your indignation for your students inattention to your teaching.

The denial of the Negative Impact of Unfair Trade practices on the US Middle class.

Its not because they listen to Rush or Hannity - its because they're tired of seeing the good engineering jobs going to H1B visa holders from the Punjab that will work for 5 dollars an hour when the job used to pay 20!!!

Rush or Hannity are open advocates of conservative free trade and globalization polices. Obviously Mr. Adkisson was distressed that the promised bonanza of jobs and economic opportunity hasn't materialized.Read the post on TY from those who believe in the conservative mythology of "free trade" and you'll understand.

Not to worry, there is a culprit...liberals and gays.

The Myth of Positive Thinking

They are getting sick and tired of being told that they are to blame for the ills of the world.

I'm sure that if the good folks at Sesame Street, or the RNC ( when in power)  were producing the news all would be "swell". Unfortunately our world has issues, in the conservative mind simply calling our attention to those issues is some sort of unpatriotic, and personal, attack.

Thats also the mindset of substance abusers, denial, defensive behavior hostility and rationalization of destructive behaviors.  The results will be similar...our failure to recognize these issues will kill us.

 The MYTH of Political Correctness

They are sick and tired of Blacks parading around calling each other the N word and getting a free pass from the Liberal establishment.

No...bobo is just sick and tired...of blacks in general it appears. I personally could car less if blacks parade around calling each other "niggxx."  On the other hand the actions of one person or group does not provide license for another person or group to engage in the same offensive behavior, particularly when people who level bobo's crticism do not  understand the position and reasoning of those who choose the  the N word.

The MYTH of the Welfare Cadillac

They are tired of welfare mothers driving around in new cars with Iphones while their families don't qualify.

This old urban myth has been around for years..Regan used it ,false then, false now...rationalization of slashing social programs to the detriment of those who really need them as revenge for not having a "new car" or I phone ( why you would want one is a mystery..).  Is there fraud in welfare, sure, a few individuals game the system. Was there fraud at UBS? Yes.  One mans Iphone is another man's 67 Billion ( last estimate) in bad securities.

The MYTH of the Immigration Invasion

They are tired of going to McDonalds or Taco Bell and dealing with stupid fuckers who don't speak English while trying to place an order.

Bobo shouldn't talk about his former students like that, don't you think?

They are tired of their teenagers not having any job prospects because the businesses want to save a buck by hiring foreigners.

 Justice for all

They are tired and pissed when they see the laws of this country being selectively enforced on both ends of the wealth spectrum.

 True..so shoot a Unitarian today!

 The MYTH of the MSM

They're pissed that they have to have Liberalism crammed down their throats each and every day by the MSM and being told that if they don't accept it that they are "bigots" or "racists" or "homophobes". They are upset that they have the "gay, black, womens, transexual, hispanic and whoever elses agenda" rammed into their anus everyday by eggheaded pointy dick Liberals who tell them they should just "all get along!!!

I have yet to see the "MSM" run public service announcements advocating  Anus Ramming. Accepting is one thing..tolerating is something else , and all most reasonable people ask.

Except for Mr.Adkisson.

Bobo writes
There is no need for you to lecture me on the root causes of the ills I describe - believe me, you are not speaking to the blind or illiterate...

Unfortunately there are many of the Right Wings “listeners” who are blind and illiterate. They worship at the alter of Con-servatism. They have bought the gospel of the Right Wing with all the devotion and adoration of a suicide bomber who decide Allah’s will is for them to kill as many infidels as possible on their way to Paradise.

Where did the Olympic bomber Eric Rudolph learn his philosophy of hate of abortionist and the “Homosexual Agenda”?

Timothy McVeigh (a registered Republican) justified his killing by the extreme Right Wing philosophy of hate found in The Turner Diaries.

Paul Hill the abortion doctor killer is applauded by some Right Wing Religious groups.

George L. Wilson of Children Need Heroes and Drew Heiss of Street Preach are planning to honor Paul Hill in a series of events called "Paul Hill Days" in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, July 26th - 29th -- "to honor him as God's man and our hero."

Rush, Sean, Billo, G. Gordon, Savage, and all the other talking heads spew their daily doses of hate filled venom everyday, and yes the vast majority of their listeners will only listen and talk, while some take the ranting as seriously as the deeply devout take the teachings of their spiritual teachers, because that’s what they are to them men of knowledge validating their point of view.

These men make poorly veiled implications of how these liberals are less than deserving people and should be treated accordingly, they question the patriotism of anyone who disagrees with them, assign all the evil in world to liberals and then when one of their devoted fans goes out and actually practices what these cowards preach they throw up their hands and protest that that is not what they advocate.

These men preach a message of hate and divisiveness as much if not more than the Religious nut jobs who hold up the God Hates Fags signs at funerals; they just have a slicker packaging.

I grew up in Alabama, I have actually met people who were involved in the Freedom Riders Bus burning, and know all the subtle code words that Rush and the others use to talk to the racist, bigoted, true believers, who would never admit what they really think, but nod to themselves with self satisfaction when Rush tells the caller to take the bone out of nose before he calls back, or when Savage refers to the “Homosexual Mafia” and how gay parenting is child abuse.

It’s easy to convince some to take up the cause with violence, if you can sell yourself as a person of knowledge while you continually spew hate, and dehuman ize your opponents. How can anyone be act surprised with the end result?

These men preach violence and hatred from their pulpits everyday to the ill informed who take what they say for truth, and when one of their faithful actually goes out and does some horrific act they all act shocked, while they secretly gloat in the power they wield.

Just my opinion.

I wonder were he got his hatred of "liberals"?

Spew a message of hate and place all the blame on a particular group and you can create your own version of suicide bombers. After all the man left a note saying he expected the police to kill him during the attack.

I wonder if he to expected 70 virgins when he got to heaven?

Hubble, have you seen the interview with Scott MCClellan on Hard Ball?  Scotty boy revealed that it is true.  FUX Noise stays in contact with the white house and vice versa. Rush Limpballs also takes talking points from the W.H. Remember when he said after the 06 election he was tired of "carrying water" for some of the RETHUGs? This is not to say the W.H. is responsible for the tragedy in TN in a direct way but it is evidence that as you state "Rush, Hannity, Billo, G. Gordon" etc. are part of the Republican propaganda machine. Olberman and Rachel discussed in on Keith's show too the other day.  So these people who preach violence and hatred (don't forget Ann Coltergiest too) are very closely allied with Bush and Co.  Extrapolate on that.
