The nicest "Kiss My Patootie" I've ever read.

I'm an Obama supporter, but I don't see how anyone could be impressed with his reply to those protesting his FISA flip-flop.

Obama offered no new information or reasons for his change of heart.  He DID offer the same misleading crap about how this bill was "improved" and "necessary to protect Americans".  This bill offers nothing that the original FISA law didn't already give us, lets some crooks off the hook, and makes it easier to spy on our phone messages without a warrent.

I don't buy the "responsiveness to his base" stuff.  If you are simply going to tell us what you've already said, why bother to tell us again?

Nor am I especially hopeful that he will roll back any changes once in office.  By then people will be used to the intrusion, and why rock the boat for a matter of principle that 90% of the country couldn't care less about?

That he might make some investigation into wrongdoing once in office makes little difference.  It will be kinda like the investigations into the lies that were told us during the leadup to the war.  Yup, it happened and Yup, it was bad, but that's soooooooooo yesterday and let's just move on.  Even IF......IF someone was convicted CRIMINALLY of wrongdoing (as Dean has suggested), do you think that will make a hill of beans difference to the telecoms?  They think with their pocketbooks and their pocketbooks will not be substantially touched.  Civil suits were the only way to hit them where it hurts, and that route has now been cut off.

Obama made a political decision.  Yeah, he WOULD have been beat up over opposing a new FISA bill, and beat up even worse if some terrorist strikes in the US between now and the election.  But he would and will be beat up anyway.  By supporting this legislation he has only taken away one of the Republican sticks, of which they have hundreds.

So yeah, I'm still supporting Obama though my enthusiasm is considerably less.  As for his recent reply to protesters on his site.... Obama can tell me how MY ass tastes.

How fickle we idealists are. I'm not at all surprised by Obama's decision on FISA. I'm not happy about it either, but the world is not going to end.

After so many years of hell, we are all so desperate for a perfect candidate. Well, it ain't Barack, and a perfect candidate doesn't exist. I wish everyone would stop trying to make him out as a Messiah. Sometimes everyone is going to disagree with him on one issue or another. That's life. Buck up.

Sorry to dredge up the Hitler analogy again, but this is exactly the way he was able to gain power among the disheartened, spiritually (I didn't say religious) bereft German population. The German people made him into a saviour, a perfect solution to their powerlessness, and he was happy to fulfill their expectations. We do the same at our peril. Barack wouldn't accept such idol worship anyway. His wife would hold his feet to the fire.

Please show us where any pro-Obama poster has presented Obama as a perfect candidate or a messiah.

That is a canard (sp?) invented by his political opponents.

Rich, I suspect you haven't spent much time on the Obama blogs. There are some clothes-rending folks over there who are despairing over their saviour's "betrayal" on FISA.  Now, I'm prepared to believe some of them are Operation Chaos types, but I've done some campaigning for Obama, and believe me when I say there are a lot of starry eyed volunteers out there.

I meant here at TYT.  I am a cyber-hermit and don't go to other websites.  We are often accused of being Messianic Obamabots by other posters and I get tired of it.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.
