Vote them out -- vote them ALL out

I would like to share an email I composed and sent out to all members in my address book that still live in the US and are politically aware.

I wrote it because I am at the end of my tether and  am just sick and tired.  Get the popcorn and sit back for my sick rant -- or begin distributing the text and contributing to your least favorite fascists!!!

Several months ago, I sent out an angry email concerning FISA and immunity for phone companies.  In that email I stated that I personally would never vote for a Democrat ever again if they caved in to Bush on this one.  I went so far as to say I would work to defeat Democrats because of their complicity and cowardice.

In any case, as we all know they pulled back.  Bless 'em, it was just a ploy, and immunity came back.  Not from the Republicans but from the likes of Sen. Rockefeller and other blue-dog Democrats.  Plus, to their ultimate shame, they "compromised" with the Republicans i.e. gave away everything and got nothing and when the language went into the bill it was disguised in the hopes fewer people would notice.

Here's what a columnist for McClatchey newspapers thinks of it:

http://www.mcclatchydc.com/ galloway/story/43123.html

I feel the same way, how dare they?

Here's what I am going to do.  I've had it with them -- every last one of them currently in elective office.  I don't know about good people such as Al Franken even though his support of the illegal Iraqi invasion and occupation after he announced for the Senate has sickened me.  Of course he says he won't fund and that he was against the war, but he soft-soaps his opposition.

Look at the freshman senator from Virginia, Mr. Webb.  Didn't take him long to show he has no respect for the US Constitution, our rights under it, and his obligation to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."  He don't give one wad of spit for that concept and I have frankly had it.

Vote them ALL out.  At all costs and though all legal and purely electoral means deny the Democratic party the majority in Congress they seek so they can sashay up to K Street and belly up to the corporate cash bar.  Vote for Barr, Nader, even McCranky for president if necessary.

Here's the point: anyone remember 1973 and the Watergate Hearings?  As a result of ALMOST impeaching a sitting president, the Republican party was placed on the outs for at least 10 years.  Remember in 1975-6 when they comprised about 15% of the US electorate.  And, by the way, there were honorable Republicans who joined in to investigate Nixon's crimes as well as some Democrats that thought Nixon's actions were just hunky peachy.

If the Democrats were REALLY worried about not being able to get anything done without 60 votes (the refrain and excuse you hear from those who whine and not those who quietly sell out) they would have initiated those impeachment hearings so the treasonable PATRIOT ACT could be repealed in its entirety and some sanity could be returned to the American population who cower in fear along with their elected representatives.

I don't know, maybe de Tocqueville and other political philosophers were right -- the damn rabble cannot govern themselves and this is just an act of futility. All the US voting population does these days is legitimize the mass-murderers in the executive branch and their MSCM and corporate brethren as they suck every bit of profit and wealth from every corner of the Earth.  And just like in a game of Risk, after they conquer the last part, we are all toast.

Here is what I propose to scare the be-Jesus out of these turncoat Democrats while we all (dream on, Brian) crush them for their duplicity.  I will start giving money to the campaigns of any and all opposition candidates -- as long as they are running against a Democrat, ANY DEMOCRAT that is currently in office.  Throw out the Republicans as well if you like, however, I want them to have a veto-proof majority.

Here's the kicker, the amount that I give will be 4, 14, 104 dollars (I can buy a lot of that Monopoly money with my Euros) whatever -- as long as the amount ends in 4.  That's 4 for the FOURTH AMENDMENT TO THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES that these wretches trample on in our name.  These contributions are listed publicly -- the Democrats and everyone else would be able to see the rash of odd-numbered giving.

As usual, the Republicans would join in just to enjoy the wailing and gnashing of teeth from these disgusting "big d" Democrats. And just when they see the light, and run frightened in the other direction -- sit back and watch them go down in defeat NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY OR DO.  Because it's just too late.

That is my fantasy and I will send emails as I carry out my part.  Please do the same and, if you like this, please forward my email to everyone in your address book.

Sincerely,

You're cutting off your nose to spite your face.  "Vote them all out" may make you feel better but it is an inane goal.  Did you see the interview Cenk had with Fiengold?  He's a good man.   You would want to throw out good people like him to punish the others?  No, you throw out the chaffe and keep the wheat.  Focus your energy on specific targets.

The democrats piss me off too, but I already know how badly the Republicans have fucked us up.  We're on the brink of a civilization changing energy crisis and they haven't made the first move to change our energy consumption profile.  We can't survive another term of this shit.  To give it away to the Republicans again is the same thing as giving up, because we've already seen what they're going to do - they've done it for going on 8 years now.  Look around you and ask yourself if this is where you think we should be.  I thought Cenk put it well.  You get through this election and then you start to cull out the Democrats who caved.   You watch the ones who are elected closely and you set the dogs on those who sell us out.    Also, there's nothing wrong with keeping those Republicans who still show good sense - although they are a rare breed these days.

Look, if Feingold is such a good man, why isn't he in front of the C-Span camera's every night, why isn't he trying to organize opposition?

All I see is talk and talk is cheap. All I see is caving and cowardice rampant among Democrats.  They have become (become my ass, I am 54 years old and I was barely sentient when they were a worthy opposition party) the party of cringe and hide.

I have never voted for a Republican in my life.  I voted for Carter, Mondale, Dukakis, Clinton, Clinton, Gore, and Kerry.  WHAT did it get me?!

A Democratic party that HAS NO RESPECT FOR THE CONSTITUTION AND THE RULE OF LAW.  They disgust me beyond all expression of exasperation.

Remember the scene in Apocalypse Now, where the Colonel  gets the deck of cards to spread over the dead VC after wiping out the village.

I want the Democrats (and all US politicians) to know who did this (the odd amounts of campaign contributions) because these bastards seem to have forgotten who they work for.

You just don't get it (and look, you have every right to stand up with the rest of the American sheeple and act as if there is still a functioning gov't and somehow Obama and the new and improved Democratic majority will wave a magic wand and make it all better) NOTHING WILL HAPPEN THAT IS ANY DIFFERENT THAN NOW.

The Democrats will "get to work" for their constituents and if you think that's the people who pulled the levers for them you are IMHO a sad and unobservant human being.

I've seen them cave for 30 years - same during the Vietnam  War.  Vote for another party and NOTHING CHANGES.

Please tell me who (with any power or backing) is talking about impeachment?  Who is talking about the breaking of laws by the White House?  Who is talking about the fact that the Iraq war was an illegal invasion from the start and should end -- today and the perps should be dragged in front of a tribunal and prosecuted for wars crimes?  Who is talking about the fact that the whole PATRIOT Act and the Millitary Commisions Act and the revised FISA statute (the 1978 one was way out of line and Bush couldn't even obey that AND THEY LET HIM GET AWAY WITH IT) should be thrown out and the constitutional rights of the American people should be restored?  NO Democrat that I know.  Tell me!  These are your friends, politicians I should respect and look up to?  Poppycock.

If the Rebugnuts had a Democratic president dead to rights on violating the law, not to mention bragging about it, they would have him on the dock before you knew it.

That's integrity.  They  may be crazy bastards but they have conviction and integrity.

The Democrats as a rule have none of that and as a result must go down.  That's why they lose elections -- no guts.  How can ANYONE respect nearly every one of these SOBs?

You, I guess.  Not me, not anymore.

THROW EVERY BUM OUT.  Allow better ones in.  End of story.

the usa is fucked until those who currently profess to being "liberal" stop voting for democrats and start building viable third-party movements.

the attitude of "let us hold our noses and vote for a democrat just this once and we can start cleaning house afterwards" has never worked and never will. all that it has done is confirmed to the incumbents that they can rape their electorate up the ass and still be guaranteed of a vote every single election.

those complaining now about fisa have no one to blame but themselves.

I'm so mad with the democrats I'm going to vote for McCain
and I have never voted for a republican.

but be smart about voting them out.

It would be far more effective to work to retake the democratatic party from the Blue Dogs and and the DLC.
Send a little money to each of the 15 Senators that opposed FISA to say thanks.
I sent some to Dodd and Feingold, i'll do the rest as I can afford it.
If you want to do more, there are websites listing progressive candidates. GoLeft.org, ActBlue.com and MoveOn.org are three.

Primaries are as important as general elections.
Do your research and be selective on who you back.
If we can double the progressive senators to 30, they'd be a force in goverment again.
Back Pelosi and Reid's opponents in the next primaries, they are bound to be vulnerable after this.

I think obama's poll numbers will show he made a big mistake and I'm sure his fund raising will suffer.
It might even cost him the election.
