If McCain wins, say good bye to the internet

This report comes ipower.ning.com. AT&T, Comcast, and all other ISP providers around the world will baisicly take control of the web by 2012. they plan on allowing access to only a couple hundred sites, and you have to pay a more money for more sites. and guess what, TYT isn't on the the list.

it's baisicly turning it into tv programing bundles. for $20 a month, you get acess to google, wikipedia, and youtube. for $30 you get phacebook and myspace.

now McCain doesn't know a computer from condom and might not even know he has his own web site dedicated to him. hell, my grandma is almost eighty and she knows how to use a computer. what are the odds he is going to give a damn about saving the last stronghold of free speach. not very likely, considering he thinks all people use the internet for identiy theft and porn.

so to all you right wing bloggers, (and you know who you are, kozlo and kentx) you might have to suck up your pride and vote for a person who will continue to allow you to insult libs on a liberal website.

If Pelosi, Reid and the Messiah all win with large margins, we are going to see the Fairness Doctorine, or some perverted form of it, dominate the airwaves and the internets and then we can all talk about losing our true freedom of speech.

I dont like McCain as much as the next guy here, but jesus - do you think he or any one else has the power to stop the internet? The internet companies cannot even stop me from using Limewire for Christ Sakes, how are they going to shut down the main course of business throughout the known world?

You are giving Republicans way too much credit here - and you are turning your Liberal blind eye to the real danger - something the government can do - and that is implement that damn "Fairness Doctorine"...

Thanks again..

The buzz about this law (or modified versions) have been recently buzzing in anticipation of a Democratic victory this November...

Hell, on Drudge tonight there is a story about some poll saying 47% of people WANT it implemented for radio and TV:

Its something from Rassmussen : heres the link

Surprise!  Drudge has stories/polls that support right wing radio talking points.  This is a fake ass issue that once again shows us all where you really get your news.

People think that radio and TV should be fair when it's phrased like that (obviously), but nobody in an official position has tried to bring it back in any way.  But just keep talking about that phantom "somebody".  It sounds so spooky.

And I thought you didn't believe in polls BTW.

The funny thing is if you google fairness doctrine and democrats you get a bunch of articles of conservatives whining about it, one article about Obama being explicitly and strongly against it and no articles about democrats supporting it.

In my three minutes of research I have so far concluded this is a complete straw man.  Something they have just decided every single person who doesn't love George Bush and Fox News believes passionately in but in reality pretty much no one is calling for.

You'll notice the Kool-Aid junkies (Ken, Bobo) talk about this as if it comes up every two minutes on the Turks, Olberman and DailyKos.  It would be like if we just started pretending the conservative movement had embraced NAMBLA and laughing every time they said we were making it up.

holy noize is referring to Net Neutrality

Something completely different from the Fairness Doctrine.

I don't usually link to Wikipedia, but these are such fundamentally different concepts I figures 'baby steps' was the right approach. You still refuse to accept the fallacies in your Fairness stance, so I won't bother with NN at all. I'm pretty sure your mind is already made up...
