we went to Mike Ditka's restaurant/bar in downtown Chicago for Cheryl's mom's 60th birthday.

The only interesting nugget of the night was my first trip to the bathroom. I walked in and to my horror, it was empty, except for the old guy sitting by the door burning a hole in my back with his eyes, eagerly awaiting his chance to get my tip.

I HATE that so much. It always makes me uncomfortable. Really, do I need someone to hand me a tissue or open the door for me? Why? Maybe if he actually wiped my ass I'd be inclined to give him a dollar but come on (ok, maybe $2).

Oh, and there was a woman in the women's bathroom according to the ladies. She was apparently more aggressive, and she kept asking "so how's your evening going", and of course she offered perfume, gum, mints, etc.

Note To Restaurant Owners: Having someone sit in the men's and women's bathrooms is a BAD idea that generally annoys people.

We also went to a nice restaurant last night (for my birthday, the 18th) and the bathrooms were gloriously attendant free.

That's what I like about the South.

I had no idea that mens rooms could have attendants.  I have only been to a very few places with bathroom attendants.  One was a club in San Francisco, but of course the woman's room was crowded, and we have doors on stalls, so not a big deal.  Your experience sounds less fun.  Wiping your ass sounds like a very low paid position, I'm afraid.

Bias, this reminds me of a time back in the early 90's when I went into a swanky restaurant. It was either in Miami or in the Bahamas.  Don't quite remember (think I was drinking Black Russians).  We went through Miami on the way to Freeport and others places. I had to use the facilities there at the restaurant.  Anyway, in the restroom there was all this shit like colcgne, mouthwash, shoeshine stuff etc.  I noticed the attendant was pretty aggressive too.  He had pocketed a bunch of $ in tips.  When I left I just ignored him and went to ask for his supervisor.  He didn't have a supervisor.  The supervisor said they had no attendant in the shithouse.  To my knowledge the dude got away with it cause the supervisor went directly to the bathroom and came out without the faux attendant.  He (supervisor) came to our table and apologized for any inconvienience.

At a bar in Tampa (right after the RAZR phone came out) my friend left his phone in the men's room. He went back later that night and it wasn't there. Long story short it cost him $100 and a trip to the shady part of town to get his phone back. So much for the attendants being 'helpful'.

Since Im too lazy to create posts for these topics, lets talk on open thread...

1. Howard Dean is at it again - calling the Republican Party the "white" party and then laughing about it during his interview!!!

   This guy is such a joke - I still cannot believe people actually listen to what he says - if the Republican chair had said the Democrat party was the black party (or any identified minority), the mainstream press would call for his head - and the fact that Dean LAUGHED about it, as if he knew that he fucked up on purpose - the imbalance of MSM coverage is sickening when it comes to stuff like this that Dems pull...

2. Rumor has it that John Kerry is interested in the #2 spot on the ticket...

    I dont know what to think here - not a bad selection based on criteria, but OMG can you imagine the life draining away from the campaign if this is even considered? Plus, Jerome Corsi would have to pull double duty swiftboating both Muslim Barack and VC loving Kerry!!!! Somewhere my cold little heart is saying "Please Barry Obama - please pick Kerry!!!" I know it wont happen though. Dammit.

3.  Apparently, the Denver PD has constructed a DNC Jail for the convention -
 
    I can only imagine who they will be using that for -

    I have this picture in my head from the movie "Silence of the Lambs" - remember when they has Hannibal Lecter in the court building in Memphis in his own little cage in the middle of that spacious room? Why can I see Hillary strapped to that gurney upright screaming through her face covering mask - "ITS MY NOMINATION DAMMIT!!!!! PUT ME BACK ON THE STAGE!!!

   Now I get why the DNC and the city of Denver has covered this up...

Any thoughts on any of these subjects?
