Charge Kozlo by the post.

Google Technorati del.icio.us digg reddit

Kozlo is doing NOTHING but post McCain/Fox/Republican talking point ads. If he continues, I urge Dave to charge him for the ADVERTISEMENTS. I think $500 per ad is quite reasonable. Plus, $1000 for every use of the word "truth" since he obviously has no idea what the word means.

If he actually posts a REAL post, the fee could be waived. Such a post would involve an original thought. I think we are safe in assuming that no fees will ever be waived...

Tip - I wouldn't accept anything but cash from this moron.

I have been questioning lately whether I want to support a website where the home page is dominated by republican talking points.  Others who are not members may be wondering the same thing.  The forum may not be very important to TYT, but it is the face of your website and the first thing new people see when linked here.  I think we members deserve better.

as part of the site (along with the free side) might satisfy that need, eh Pear?

Have a good day...

I don't mind reasoned dissent at all.  I enjoy it.  What I dislike is posters who even admit they are here merely to manipulate and spam and that they don't even stand behind their arguments.  You seem to self-identify with the troll label, but I've always been willing to debate you honestly.  I won't waste time with people who don't stand behind their words though, if I can help it.

I set up a forum/message board for my company not long ago--it was pretty easy even for me, a biologist.  But changing an established forum with unwritten codes of conduct seems really hard, as evidenced by the arguments we have about it here.  Specific features you'd like to see?  Constructive feedback is awesome.

the idea of moderation have to acknowledge that Pear makes a devastatingly good point when she says:

"[The forum] it is the face of your website and the first thing new people see when linked here..."

Yes, exactly. I love the show so much that I actually want more and more people to be aware of it. I want more people to listen to it, watch it and read and post about it.

When new people come to The Young Turks website, aside from the streaming video, they see the forums first. When you keep that in mind you realize how important it is to put a little effort in to always keeping it strong (within the financial, technical and time constraints that are very real and that Dave is well aware of).

At any rate, I realize that some people don't care if the show grows and they don't have to. It's great if they're members who keep it going at it's existing level. But there's no need to get angry with and or mock members who want to expand the audience.

It turned me off when I first came here a long time ago.  I might have been attracted and become a supporting member at that point, but I didn't because I didn't understand why The Young Turks website was full of front-page blog postings like "Obama is on drugs."  At first glance, it is not clear that these are blog posts by anyone.  I just assumed that it was the position of certain TYT people.

It was only after a second and much longer experience on the site that I realized that the TYT forum just has no troll policy and decided to become a member.

First impressions matter people.   What TYT chooses to do is certainly their business, but I assume they want more engaged participants and more members.  Maybe the solution is just to have the diaries/forum off the front page.  Link to it.  That requires no troll policy, but also gets the extreme right-wing crap off of your front page!!!

Of course I was a premium Air America member at the time so I was already downloading TYT pod-casts.

But still, I was also very put off by forums when I first came here for the same reasons. I tried to post about it back then, but my concerns were attacked or mockingly dismissed by the disruptors (and the stubborn who resist change).

"I have been questioning lately whether I want to support a website where the home page is dominated by republican talking points."

I often have this same sentiment.  I'm here because I like Cenk's view.  I think of him as a sane moderate in a world divided by right and left ideologues, something we desperately need more of right now.  I don't know what to make of people who insist on posting viewpoints here that are always 100% diametrically opposed to the viewpoints expressed by the hosts of the site.  Personally, if I go to a conservative site it's to learn what they are thinking or saying.  I don't go over there with the delusion that I'm going to talk them out of their beliefs.  Even if their views piss me off (and they often do) I'm not going to create posts on their site calling them all idiots.  It's exactly the same thing as when religious people go to a site where atheists express their views and post comments saying they're all going to burn in hell.  Who's the real idiot in this case?

As far as I can see, this kind of behavior is aimed at controlling a site and diluting its message, probably because the person finds that message threatening.  I think that's what KenTX does and that's why I find him particularly tiresome.  Notice how his messages are virtually never supportive of Cenk's views.  I can't bring myself to listen to Rush Limbaugh for more than five minutes because I find his views so tedious.  I can't imagine how the hell someone can listen to a show day in and day out where he abhors the message it delivers just so he can post contrary views.

Since Bobo has a bit of a persecution complex, if he's reading this he probably thinks I've been talking about him too.  If so he's wrong, that isn't so, I don't feel the same way about his posts, or Acroso's, for that matter.  I do think their views are, well, you know...kind of deluded.

[LAUGHING SO HARD IT HURTS]

Leave it to Bozo to make this into some kind of bogus First Amendment issue.  Nobody agreed with Kozlo because Kozlo was, by his very nature, disagreeable.  Even Ken just took his little aural favors and silently walked away without so much as tousling the kid's hair.  Kozlo's was a thankless existence and he won't be missed.

You Tube has a embed tag by each video...the Scoop app ( drives the website) only allows certain tags so you will need to strip the allowfullscreen tag out. Also turn off the WYSIWYG editor off so you can paste the HTML. You can also look at the page source and get the embed code.

How do you turn off the WYSIWYG editor? Also, have you tried using the ascii codes, I think " is something like %20 or maybe that is backslash, but would that make a difference with allowFullScreen? Could you change the width and height with full screen or you can't use it at all? What is the Scoop app, I'm not familiar with that, that is what runs TYT? Is it some form of PHP or something? When you strip out the WYSIWYG editor can you also use XML like RSS or OPML?

As one of the "Old Timers" old timers who never want anything to change because they're comfortable."who has been around since the Sirius days, and as someone who has supported every one's right to participate in the forum I'll throw my two cents into the pot.

The idea of the forum is for discussion and debate. Kozlo did neither. Our dearly departed Super Ninja Soldier with special  secret killer training Chuzlife ended up doing neither.

There have been a few idiots from the left who did neither.

I have said many times the forum is the sole property of TYT and they have the right to set the rules as they see fit.

For the last several years the forum has been active and there has been some great post, some silly post, some stupid post, and for the most part it's been an interesting place to come.

Bobo I'm sorry you feel like freedom has been squashed. As has often been said, freedom of speech doesn't mean you can yell fire in a crowded theatre.

Common courtesy also means don't play your music so loud that the neighbors down the street can hear it, and if you do you can be cited for violation of noise ordinance.

Kozlo was an example of both. No one wanted to hear his music, and he disrupted the forum with his stupid post.

I don't go to the movies to hear people talk through the entire thing, and I don't come to this forum to see 200 post of the same thing over and over.

Now if there was a ignore button so you could just block the post of people like Koslo  I would say let him waste his time, but that's not the case.

Freedom of Speech is a right guaranteed by the Constitution and no one is telling Koslo he can't talk, but this is a site owned by TYT and they can indeed decide who has abused the right to post here.

Personally I found Kozlo hilarious, but I can understand how others found his post disruptive, so I will stand behind Dave's decision.
