Why McCain is Losing the Love of the Media

Google Technorati del.icio.us digg reddit

Ever since mini-Rove Steve Schmidt clamped down on the formerly straight-talkin' Johnny POW, the media lost its love for McCain.  And, McCain lost his only real advantage, which was cuddling up to reporters and buying their favors with donuts.  Check out the latest interview with TIME magazine, where the candidate comes off as the headline says:  "PRICKLY."  In other words, a testy old fart that nobody wants to see in the White House but intellectually challenged born-agains and those who want to keep propping up the corporate fat cats for their own gain.  Don't worry, it's a short interview.  Now that McCain has to "stay on message," he has nothing to say at all.

Update [2008-8-28 13:56:3 by desertpear]: Joe Klein's priceless comments:

"All right. Politicians hate these sorts of process questions--why aren't you hanging out with the press the way you used to do?--but John McCain's crude and angry response to my colleagues strikes me as further evidence of a man who has lost his bearings this year. I mean, he refuses to define what he means by 'honor'? How embarrassing for him."

McCain comes off as a senile old man to me.

That's exactly what he is.  OK, maybe a few days from being senile.  or a heart attack....or dementia...

"Prickly". Maybe they should run with it. The old "maverick" magic is wearing thin these days - a redefinition as the prickly guy could recharge the McCain battery.

I can see Charlotte the spider weaving it into her web.
