Joe Biden's Speech last night was great

Joe Biden's speech was great

Not, let me preface this by saying that the speech in and of itself wasn't all that great.

But the speech as an entity, I feel, and Joe Biden himself, was great.

Barack Obama gets shit on all the time for being this highfalutin sophisticated individual who is perfect in every way who can't connect with the regular schlepps out there in the rust belt and elsewhere. While I think that's totally bogus, Biden is a perfect way to combat that, and his speech last night was perfect.

Now, I'm a pretty regular guy, and when I watched the speech last night I felt closer to Joe Biden. I thought that if I were to be asked to give a speech, it would be something like that, and I'm pretty sure most other regular people would too.

In some places it was poorly delivered, in others he was nearly yelling, but you could definitely tell there was passion and meaning behind his words. He stumbled in some places and flubbed some words, and I knew that when I try to read speeches sometimes I do the same thing.  It was the everyman's speech, where a guy who's obviously not perfect at speech giving but says what he means and means what he says is really out there giving it all he's got.

Now let me make this perfectly clear...this is a very precipitous thing, because sometimes you get burned when you go for the guy who looks like an "ordinary guy" (George W Bush, anyone), but luckily Joe Biden isn't a total meathead like Bush.

So what the Obama camp should do is take Biden and plunk him down in every middleclass neighbourhood they can find and tell him to give that speech, or ones similar, all until Election Day
