That's it. I just wanted to break it. Does it even matter what her name is? Because we all know she's just there to attract the pissed Hillary voters. Lets see if Rush' head explodes today.

Hopefully the damage is just temporary.

but he's being a dick, some stuff is funny, but most isn't

they should just stick to Sarah Who?

Let's think about it: McCain has outlived his father and grandfather by years, there is a reasonably chance he'll die in office, you want Sarah Who sitting in the Oval, with the husband who works for BP

who do you think she'll listen to when it comes to foreign affairs? the same people who gave you Bush, that's who

Obama will be the next president of The United States!

But seriously, this is a brutal choice for McCain. Based on what I've read she'll appeal to the religious right, she's "inexperienced" based on the right's logic (she has no more experience than Obama) and let's face it, there is plenty of sexism out there.

Aren't there a LOT of Republicans who aren't comfortable with the idea that this 'inexperienced' woman could become the Commander In Cheif if the 100 year old man in front of her croaks?

Bobo?

by ihavenobias on 08/29/2008 11:17:42 AM EST

I dont know much about Governor Palin, but I can already see the true colors of the Liberals here shining through.

The sexist remarks are gonna come out full force on the liberal blogs, and I hope that people see what kind of hypocrits you guys really are...

It amazes me how smug Liberals can truly be...

Well sure, there are sexists in both parties but I don't think you really want to argue percentages.

Comment on her lack of experience Bobo (assuming you think Obama is inexperienced of course), and how she'd become president if something happens to McCain. How would you feel about that?

To what are you referring? There are, at least prior to your post, no sexist comments. Don't jump the gun.

This is war dude.  We are in it to win.  As a woman, I am going to fight against Palin's inexperience.  That has nothing to do with sexism.  McCain picked a woman probably because he hoped the dems would hold back their attacks.  I say ATTACK NOW and HARD.  Throw the fucking sink at them.  Hillary would.

I find it to be a choice that is desperate.  Based on what I've read about her, she is, for the most part, pretty bipartisan.  She is pro-life and against gay marriage.  Wikipedia will tell you more about her.

Most importantly, though, she has only been governor of Alaska for 2 years.  So, the GOP has totally destroyed their "inexperience" attack strategy.

I don't get the pick, but I think the Biden-Palin debate should be interesting.  If Biden mauls her, then it will be the GOP that cries sexism, much like bobo has already pre-accused the liberals of being in his warped future.

I believe that is looked upon favorably in VP candidates in Republican circles.

To quote some Republican somewhere:

McCain knows his speech at the convention cannot beat Barack's.  McCain just doesn't have it in him...  he's not an orator.  So, McCain's speech, instead, will be about how he is going to "fix" the country, not by leading it, but by mentoring this young conservative woman for four years in a way of creating a more lasting legacy (one he knows he probably won't be around to enact).  He'll pledge to serve only one term, setting up Palin as his successor, who after four years under McCain's stewardship, will be ready to lead the country.  She'll be praised as a fresh new conservative voice, someone from outside Washington, and someone who while lacking experience, has the energy of youth behind her (and hey! four years of McCain to show her how its done).

If he does this, it'll be an interesting gambit.  He's obviously going for some of the Hillary supporters who are still mad at Obama.  And he might even steal some Obama voters who feel more loyalty to their vagina than they do thier policies.

Of course, by picking her, McCain has effectively cut the GOP attack strategy at the knees.  He can't attack Obama's inexperience, because the same can apply to Palin, for example.

He is a goner.

Even to the extent she is a good choice for VP, virtually NO ONE will want this right wing, inexperienced, oil company hack, religious extremist stooge to be president.

The truth is McCain has always needed someone Americans were comfortable with being president in early 2009 and this woman is light years from that.  He will get some good press for a little while but when the novelty wears off and people start talking about the likelihood of President Palin this will blow up in his face.

Just on a gut level even Ken and bobo will agree if they are being completely honest that in a very dangerous world they would get a lot more sleep under President Biden than President Palin.

by ProfRich on 08/29/2008 12:01:28 PM EST

I don't think Hillary supporters, who have supported an incredibly strong politician, are going to fall into Palin's camp.  Just the opposite.  An inexperienced upstart trying to steal what should be Hillary's.  Hillary worked long and hard to get where she is.  Palin is an inexperienced (failed) beauty queen.  Of course there will be some who go for this ploy, but it is so transparent since Palin has no experience.  That is why the strategy will fail.  There will always be idiots voting of course, but you can't predict the voting behavior of lunatics.  Let's focus on those who can think.

There is a decent chance of a significant anti-Palin backlash as she strolls in and expects to inherit the Hillary support without having done anything to deserve it.

Some of those PUMA's might legtimately ask, "Just who the fuck do you think you are?" and get angry.

Bias,

Heard McCain wanted to pick a running mate from Alaska.  A republican of course.  She was the only choice since just about every other republican in that state is either in jail, indicted, being investigated or still breaking some law.  There is a "fly in her ointment too". per NPR report.  Her sister apparently is or was married to an Alaskan state trooper.  Her sister per the report was so vindictive that she wanted him fired from the force.  They said there is evidence that Gov has worked toward that end to help out her sister.  That is, fire the dude cause her sister ask her.  Heard he is still working but there is an active investigation as we speak.

God, these republicans.  The dems have bad apples here and there, but the I believe that republicans have a genetic predisposition to engage in shifty, underhanded, unethical, hateful and immoral behavior.  Its sorta like they can't help it.

Good job Mccain you just killed off one of your talking points that someone with little or some experience in government CAN lead a nation. Because right now he's only thinking of the present for his vp pick what if something happens to him and someone with just some experience in government becomes president?

Time to pull out all the YouTube segments with McCain attacking Obama for lack of experience!!!

It just struck me that McCain and Palin will now have animal lovers against him, especially PETA.  Of course they have the less-educated hunting vote, but they already had that. Rednecks weren't voting for Obama anyway.  I say "less-educated" because lots of sportsmen are beginning to realize that the Republicans are hurting the natural environment they depend on for their sport.  Canned hunts for African animals in Texas just don't cut it.  I work in a company with a lot of fish biologists, who tend to love fishing.  There isn't a single Republican.

I'm not a supporter of PETA, because I don't agree with their entire platform or tactics, but I will enjoy watching them attack Palin with much glee.   Bring out the naked models against fur!!  Bring out the buckets of blood poured on Palin's doorstep!  hee hee.
