Show Will be at 6PM ET Tonight -- The Sarah Palin Special

We will be doing the show tonight at 6PM ET as we did during the convention. We're back in the studio and locked and loaded. We'll give you a Rebel Headquarters special greeting for Sarah Palin.

In discussing Tim Kaine for VP, Karl Rove dissed his lack of resume:

"Will all due respect again to Governor Kaine, he's been a governor for three years," Rove told Bob Schieffer. "He's been able but undistinguished. I don't think people could really name a big, important thing that he's done."

Rove even dragged Richmond into his sights. "[Kaine] was mayor of the 105th largest

city in America," Rove said. "And again, with all due respect to Richmond, Virginia, it's smaller than Chula Vista, California; Aurora, Colorado; Mesa, or Gilbert, Arizona; North Las Vegas, or Henderson, Nevada. It's not a big town."

Palin has been gov of Alaska, one of the least populated states, for less than 2 years and previously a mayor of a town of 6,800.  WHAT SAY YOU ROVE ABOUT PALIN?!!

Just $10, but if everyone does a little, the Turks can stay fed and adequately hydrated ;)

Be sure to catch this - a summary of Republican reactions, and not positive ones.  Thanks to the Repubs for doing the work FOR US.

"...Palin has absolutely no experience in foreign affairs. Considering both McCain's advanced age and the state of the world today, it is essential that the veep be exceedingly qualified to assume the office of president. I simply don't have any confidence in Palin's ability to deal effectively with Iran, Russia, China, etc. ..."

Inexperience. Palin has been governor for about two minutes. Thanks to McCain’s decision, Palin could be commander-in-chief next year. That may strike people as a reckless choice; it strikes me that way. And McCain's age raised the stakes on this issue.

As a political matter, it undercuts the case against Obama. Conservatives are pointing out that it is tricky for the Obama campaign to raise the issue of her inexperience given his own, and note that the presidency matters more than the vice-presidency. But that gets things backward. To the extent the experience, qualifications, and national-security arguments are taken off the table, Obama wins.

And it’s not just foreign policy. Palin has no experience dealing with national domestic issues, either. (On the other hand, as Kate O’Beirne just told me, we know that Palin will be ready for that 3 a.m. phone call: She’ll already be up with her baby.)

Tokenism. Can anyone say with a straight face that Palin would have gotten picked if she were a man?

Compatibility.
It doesn’t seem as though McCain knows Palin well. Do we have much reason to think they would work well together?

I am not even sure that the pick will have quite the galvanizing effect on conservatives that it seems to be having now as it sinks in. The concerns I’ve mentioned here—about her readiness and her credentials—are the kind of thing that many conservative voters take seriously.

Of couuurrrrssse the Alaskans are going to be in favor of charging the oil companies more.  I can tell you that oil and gas votes its pocketbook all the time, everytime.  So do a lot of the people in oil and gas states.  Charging the oil and gas companies more for leases was a popular idea here too.  When you talk about royalties people see it differently than taxes, although in the end it amounts to the same thing but they don't think in such complicated terms.

Although the quality on the youtube video is a bit lacking, it was hilarious watching McCain stand uncomfortablly next to her durring the speech.

I thought someone was kidding about the "nuke-u-lar" thing.  She is a rank amateur, let's face it.  I'd love to see her and Hillary in a cat fight.
