Conservative spin of Palin as VP

Conservative commentator Ed Rollins wrote on CNN.com today that Palin is a brilliant choice for McCain's VP.  He goes on to cite the following reason as to why: "She is blunt, outspoken and charming. And don't assume she can't stand toe-to-toe with Joe Biden. She is a great debater. And she was runner-up for the Miss Alaska title, won Miss Congeniality in that contest, and plays the flute."

I didn't know she played the flute!  Well that is it, I'm sold!  Plus she won miss congeniality, so we know she will run a respectful campaign.

Okay, seriously this is quite possibly the worst (or best if you are a leeberal) choice McCain could have gone with.  It is comparable to Obama, if he had chosen Even Bayh (Wah, Waaah).

The Republican spin machine is also playing the woman voter card.  During Palin's acceptance speech she praised Hilary for a great campaign.  Could they be more transparent?  I don't think that Palin will grab Hilary voters as McCain is hoping for one simple reason, she is pro-life.

Rollins says it himself, "I think the potential for her to attract women voters is immense. And I am betting, win or lose or draw, she is a future star of a party in desperate need of young people and women role models."  The Republicans are desperate for members who aren't old white guys.  But, more importantly, they are just plain desperate.
