Some Americans should not vote

Google Technorati del.icio.us digg reddit

This is not to be mean. Actually I was very saddened when I heard a caller on yesterdays c-span - washington journal. I guess I'm a big softy, but I could actually empathize with him, though he is definately misguided.

Clearly this person is not following an ideology or political party that represents his way of looking at the world. What he's apparently following is a Team. His home team. the team he grew up playing with, and no matter what the team says or does it is true and just and patriotic.

I felt truly sorry for this guy. Misguided he might be, but that was the sound of a breaking heart. I really, really  dont understand this kind of blind loyalty.

Just like an immigrant, you should know the basic facts about our constitution, how our government works, etc. You should have a basic level of intelligence and education, or maybe a special course in American Politics and Critical Thinking.  That's solely my opinion and an unAmerican idea, I'm sure ;)

The entire Bush Administration, Justice Department and AG's office would not be able to vote?

A basic level of intelligence and education you say? I can't link it right now, but it would be interesting to analyze how poor and uneducated people vote.

While Dems do ok with the poor, as education levels go down Republican support goes up.

More specifically, the less someone knows about an election the more likely they are to vote Republican.

Democrats outnumber Republicans among high school dropouts almost two to one. Republicans outnumber Democrats among college graduates, according to the Pew Research Center.

I thought he might have been talking about me and Ken!!!

I dont believe in restricting who votes with one exception - ILLEGALS!!!! If they come to vote, ICE should be there loading them up on busses!!!

would you be in favor of providing official government voting ID, to be required at the polls, free to all U.S. citizens?

No, Bobo.  We already know you're not going to vote because you keep telling us so.  As such, we consider you already "in the bank."

I mean. I could be persuaded to be a republican if it could be proven to me that it was the sounder choice. Haven't seen anything that comes near it, especially after having seen how Trickledown economy and a freemarket philosophy that can only described as cancerous work.

Besides, I come from a country with 50% taxes, strict restrictions on the market and a big goverment that supplies healthcare, education (and student salary) and a social safty net, and we are doing very well. Can get more un-republican thatn that.

Only women should be able to vote in America.  Men have really messed things up.  In each and every case, the least effective presidents have been men.

by desertpear on 08/30/2008 03:36:04 AM EST

now thats a tricky statement that ;)
