whew. everyone get caught up on all the speeches?
But you know most of those people were there to see Sheryl Crow perform. ;)
This is going to sound gushing and lame, but I'm so excited to vote. I really like both of these guys, and I feel like we could really be on the cusp of something great for the world. I know the more cynicle people are retching right now, but that's honestly the way I feel.
Kumbaya motherfuckers!
"Like lipstick on a pig"
I thought it was magnificent, perfect. I almost feel sorry for McCain. How will he ever match the music of that speech?
I really like the title of your post, BTW.
of my lifetime.
It did the job better than I ever dreamed. It undercut the "pre-buttal" by the GOP that Obama was all pretty words and empty rhetoric by avoiding all rhetoric.
He was specific and framed the election as the Dems + the American People vs. the Pubs + the wealthy + the lobbyists which is the most effective narrative we have.
But my favorite part was when he said, " I'ma call a coupla hard, pipe-hittin' niggers, who'll go to work on the homes here with a pair of pliers and a blow torch. You hear me talkin', Grampa Death? I ain't through with you by a damn sight. I'ma get medieval on your ass."
He eviscerated McCain's old ass and I loved it.
I giggled through the whole thing. Obama isn't tough? He went Joe Louis last night. Call him a pussy now, I dare ya.
My favorite part was when he talked about McCain's temperament. hopefully this will get repeated a few times in the press and we can have the MSM talk about McCain's history of repeatedly physically assaulting Congressman who have the gall to disagree with him or his verbal and emotianal abuse of his wife (wives). That might undercut his lame attempt to appeal to women by taking the crazy governor of Alaska.
From WaPo:
"Though it was high in shock value, the Palin pick left bruised feelings among the short-list contenders who were not picked -- and infuriated some Republican officials who privately said McCain had gone out on a limb, unnecessarily, without laying the groundwork for such an unknown. Two senior Republican officials close to Mitt Romney and Tim Pawlenty said they had both been rudely strung along and now "feel manipulated."
"They now know that they were used as decoys, well after McCain had decided not to pick them," one Republican involved in the process said."
For those in Texas and Louisiana. Pretty amazing site.
