Is Sarah Palin a second Harriet Miers?

The Palin pick felt like I had seen it all before. Then it came to me.

Republicans choosing inexperienced women for a position they are not qualified for? Reminds me of

Bush picking his lawyer Harriet Miers to be on the Supreme Court.

Democrats in Congress didn't understand it at the time and now journalists don't seem to understand it, a lot of them were scratching their heads, before they went into the attack.
As Bush's pick, John McCain had made a irresponsible pick, especially at his age.
The lack of qualified women in the "Grand Old Geezer"-party, for ces them pick these token women nobody has heard about.

Would be funny if McCain has to withdraw Palin as his VP pick :)

Just saw Alex Castellanos say to Anderson Cooper how Palin qualified she is because she ran Alaska's $5.5 billion budget, which is bigger than a lot of countries.

Really, which countries would that be???? Got the love those Repuglicans pulling stuff out of their asses left and right. For example Turkmenistan has already a budget of $23 billion. You have to fact check everything these guys say, because they live in a different world than the rest of us.

Because Sarah Palin can be replaced as a nominee, just like Harriet Miers was replaced as a nominee. If the polls show that Sarah is not catching fire with Hillary supporters, we dump her, and go for another VP, and another bounce. Replacing the VP is certainly not unprecedented in American history. So far, I'm pleased with the selection7n and I say we keep her. The more Democrats slam this "token" woman, the more women voters will be drawn to her.

won't he be acknowledging she was a token women?

seems to me that a lof of women are actually pissed about this pick, offended even, and rightly so, it shows how Republicans use women as trophies

Cafferty was great on this, he read some interesting e-mails from women

The selection of this person for V.P. strengthens a personal theory I have had for some time.  This was also demonstrated, I believe, with the selection of Bush (by the repubs and the supreme court) and the stealing of the O4 election.

McSame met this person one time... didn't know her from "eve".  I can see how difficult it would be to know if she has the qualifications to be V.P., much less President. She's been quoted stating she has no idea what a V.P. does. The pick was obviously by the people behind the scenes.  You know, the people from the dark side.  This selection shows to me at least, the Rethuglican party continues to be more interested in maintaining power than the wellbeing of the country.  I do not want to judge Sarah as a person, but I am already worried enough about McCain becoming president.  If he croaks, we have perhaps even bigger problems ahead.

Wonder how much bribe money it will take to get her out of the investigation going on in Alaska as we speak.  That is how the rethuglicans roll.  Remember the "coalition of the willing"..... more appropriately discribed by Teddy K. as the "coalition of the bribed."

Bottom line. Rethugs again are seriously looking at strategies as to how to steal another election.  They know they are taking a gamble anointing Sarah. I do not believe this bull shit game is going to work.  This woman's political and social perspectives will send the Hillary bunch sprinting back to Obama.

Wonder if she would change her mind to favor an abortion if the individual  was raped by a gorilla?

don't think she carries whether a woman is raped by a gorilla, man or ice bear

"I do not want to judge Sarah as a person"

I will: she wants to throw people in jail who have abortians, she wants to force women who have been impregnated by a rapist to have the child

that makes her a bad person, with some antiquated and despicable values, I judge her on that

who the fuck is she to decide this for any woman, it's kinda like being forced to marry the murderer of a family member

+ she wants to kill the polar bears :)

btw she can be a good person on other levels, which I'm sure of that she is, but at least on one level she's a bad person

For when she becomes a Democrat.  For now, focus on the bad and repeat it endlessly.  One point seems to trump all others:  If something happens to McCain, is she experienced enough to be president?

Dump the woman when you don't get what you want for her.  Maybe you can go for a younger, better looking woman.  That will totally win over every woman voter in America.

They love when men do that!

Maybe you could put Malkin on the ticket.  She is one of the stupidest, worst people in the world, but she is sexy.

I don't know, but it seems she's being thrown into the meat grinder already, so many people ripping into her

what will happen if reporters make her answer foreign policy questions

would be so funny if
1. the GOP has to postpone their convention
2. Palin is thrown under bus in favor of Romney or someone
(3. Ron Paul rips the Repuglican Party in 2 at the convention)

by callisto on 08/30/2008 01:10:40 PM EST

That's an apt description. She is certainly under assault by the unhinged Left. Every single attack on Sarah could be rightfully applied to the inadequate, severely deficient novice at the top of your ticket.

And yet nothing has stuck because Obama is actually a great human being and candidate we are proud of.  So we are free to continue to assualt your dear little "Sarah."  I like how you use her first name to make her seem weak and vulnerable.  Against abortion even in cases of assault and rape.  How compassionate of her.  FUCK your little SARAH.

Obama thinks women who get abortions should be locked up too?  I really need to look harder at his website.  Thanks for the heads up Ken.

Right, Ken.

The left could learn a lot about restraint, class and dignified campaigning from the right.

How big is the shiteating grin on your sad little face when you type idiotic shit like this?

You realize that every single election the Pubs first play from scrimmage is "slander the Dems wife!".

Please, take your bullshit indignation over to bobos and drown in his Ripple.

No. She is a Friday news dump;) When was the last time McCain didn't have a Friday news dump? She's the newest pile of turds.

From this article "6 Things the Palin Pick Says About McCain"

1. He’s desperate. Let’s stop pretending this race is as close as national polling suggests. The truth is McCain is essentially tied or trailing in every swing state that matters — and too close for comfort in several states like Indiana and Montana the GOP usually wins pretty easily in presidential races...McCain could easily lose in an electoral landslide.

2. He’s willing to gamble — bigtime. Let’s face it: This is not the pick of a self-confident candidate. It is the political equivalent of a trick play or, as some Democrats called it, a Hail Mary pass in football. McCain talks incessantly about experience, and then goes and selects a woman he hardly knows, who hardly knows foreign policy and who can hardly be seen as instantly ready for the presidency.

3. He’s worried about the political implications of his age.

4. He’s not worried about the actuarial implications of his age. There is no plausible way that McCain could say that he picked Palin...because she was ready to be president on Day One.McCain has made a mockery out of his campaign's longtime contention that Barack Obama is too dangerously inexperienced to be commander in chief.

Nor can McCain argue that he was looking for someone he could trust as a close adviser...They met for the first time last February at a National Governors Association meeting in Washington. Then, they spoke again — by phone — on Sunday.

5. He’s worried about his conservative base. GOP stalwarts were furious over trial balloons about the possibility of choosing a supporter of abortion rights, including the possibility that he would reach out to his friend [Lieberman].

6. At the end of the day, McCain is still McCain. People may find him a refreshing maverick, or an erratic egotist...The fact that McCain only spoke with Palin about the vice presidency for the first time on Sunday, and that he was seriously considering Lieberman until days ago, suggests just how hectic and improvisational his process was.
