Right, Ken.

Because the only time that counts as "being a Senator" is time spent in the Capitol.

Just...

No.

when it comes to education: Obama's level is at least 3 times higher than Palin

go to wikipedia put the two next to each other

your lazyness doesn't even warran't me putting in the effort of a response

there is no comparison between the two, Palin is at Bush's level

But she has electrified anti-abortionists and gun-rights advocates!  (Who were voting Republican anyway...).  Response:  hahahahahaha!

It's a huge risk taken in desperation, all but the evangelical gun-nuts with Downs Syndrome agree.

Repeat the following:

NO FOREIGN POLICY EXPERIENCE (please, just try to compare to Obama, who just completed a very successful international trip, and who has the endorsement of how many generals???).  Palin isn't even interested in foreign policy.

BRINGS NOTHING TO THE PARTY IN TERMS OF ECONOMIC EXPERIENCE, MCCAIN'S WEAKEST AREA

A HUGE RISK IN TIME OF WAR:  John McCain would be the oldest person ever to be inaugurated for a first term at age 72, and has had several bouts with melanoma, a potentially deadly form of skin cancer.  He is more likely than any previous president to drop dead in his first term.  His choice of Palin could leave America in a very dangerous position if anything happens to McCain during those four years.  We are in two wars.  We can't take this risk.

WANTS TO REPEAL ROE VS WADE

John McCain has failed at his first real opportunity to show his leadership and judgment.  He is not a maverick; he is a desperate holdout of the Bush Administration.

by desertpear on 08/31/2008 11:38:25 AM EST

Joe.... all that ass kissing and gaffe straightening down the drain.  I bet he's really pissed and his jaws are sore from blowing McCain continuiously for the past several months.  Hell, even tho Joe is a turncoat I would feel better if he were the running mate.  At least hes been out of the country and knows there are 49 more states.

Then at least target the right group.

The 9/11 conspiracy nuts (the Alex Jones mafia) are almost all, to a person, conservatives.  They make a great big noise about being independent, or Libertarian, but when it comes time to pull the level in the booth, they reach for the one labeled "R."

With regards to the pregnancy issue, the "attack" you perceive has nothing to do with a pregnant teenager.  It has to do with the fact that her mother is against sex education programs that could have prevented her daughter from getting knocked up in the first place.  If daughter dearest had been educated about or been allowed to purchase birth control, then it is quite possible this would not have happened.

Again, the issue isn't this one little girl, it's about the failure of an entire policy we have been forced to accept because the people in power happen to think you should lead your life based on their religious beliefs.

Seems like the 9/11 thing is a comfortable little smokescreen for you.  Hide behind it, point and mock when you need, and avoid the real issues.

So, here's a direct question:

Will you admit that "abstinence-only" sexual education is a failure as a policy?  Because despite all the "conservative cred" Palin brought to the table (the "cred" she suddenly had after all the Pubs sat down and figured out what it was they liked about her after McCain made his announcement), it seems like pushing her family values is a no-go.

Seems like the 9/11 thing is a comfortable little smokescreen for you.  Hide behind it, point and mock when you need, and avoid the real issues.

The same idiots who can't figure out WTC7 were all over the fake pregnancy conspiracy.

Regarding your question, no sex education program is capable of stopping teen pregnancy. Handing out condoms and detailed instructions does not stop teens from getting knocked up. Telling them to wait until they get married does not work. Teens are going to screw and get pregnant. That is the way the universe works.

by Twba on 09/02/2008 01:17:29 PM EST

[ Parent ]
"no sex education program is capable of stopping teen pregnancy"

technically you're right, no program is able to stop ALL teen pregnancies, but that's an idiotic point to make, not one policy deals in absolutes, like family values will not stop ALL father-daughter rapes, ...

now, in the case if you were reasonable and meant that the programs don't make a difference:

WRONG, if you had said "no sex education program is capable of stopping teen having sex", I would agree

but your statement is just plain wrong, all the research says "abstinence only" only lowers the percentage of teens having protected sex, not the sex rate, that higher unsafe sex rate gives you a higher teen pregnancy rate

The US has the highest teenage pregnancy rate in developed world after the UK, who are also idiots on this issue. Other Western countries which have an open sex education have vastly lower numbers:
births per 1000 women (15-19 ys)
US: 53 (India btw only 45 and Russia 30)
UK: 20
Canada: 16
Germany: 11
France: 9
Italy, Spain: 6
Netherlands: 5
Japan: 4

You see that the US has a rate that is 10 times higher, that's 1000% higher than the Netherlands

by callisto on 09/02/2008 01:41:37 PM EST

[ Parent ]
In the UK, the average teenager loses his or her virginity at the age of 16.5 -- more than a year before the Dutch average...

Apparently, abstinence might have a little something to do with the low teen pregnancy rate in the Netherlands.

by Twba on 09/04/2008 07:48:23 PM EST

[ Parent ]
that makes no sense at all!!!!!!!!

why because they start having sex at a later age, btw nobody is saying you wait until marriage or something, what the whole abstinence thing is all about

it might be that the Dutch educational system is better overal and rolls out fewer dumb people than the English, in England you can leave school at 16, not so in the Netherlands + if you didn't know the English are known to be the most barbarian amongst the Europeans, hence a lot of problems they have like teen unemployment and teen pregnancy

that was such an idiotic point to make
btw aren't you dutch?

that makes no sense at all!!!!!!!!

One exclamation point is enough to convey your incomprehension.

Because Dutch teens on average abstain from sex longer than British teens, abstinence might have a little something to do with the low teen pregnancy rate in the Netherlands.

by Twba on 09/06/2008 03:04:49 PM EST

[ Parent ]
true, if that's the reason, show the research, that article doesn't state that at all

my problem is with your logic, it's making a causal claim without having the proof to back it up

if you would know the English as they are and not the stereotype of what Americans have of them, you would know right away why they have a higher teen pregnancy rate

think trailer park and you'll be pretty close, now I'm no fan of the Dutch, but I'll give them that, they are a long way ahead of the English on a array of topics

Joe Biden warned supporters Thursday not to expect him to unleash "one-line zingers" in his debates with GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin -- even if she does.

"I will be unrelenting in my debate with governor, the governor of Alaska in terms of the positions she has taken," Biden said. "But I will not do what she is able to do so well, and many others-not bad. I am not good at the one-line zingers that go at, you know, that's not my deal. So if that is going to be the measure of how these debates go, then I'm not going to do very well."

And the results were not good for Barack Obama. Liberal and conservative pundits agreed unanimously that John McCain beat the living hell out of Barack Obama.

The only way Barack Obama can be president is if we can invent a device that rolls a teleprompter in front of him everywhere he goes.

Here are a few examples:
“McCain outshone Obama in defining and achieving his objective. At Saddleback, McCain won the media game hands down: exceeding expectations, generating pithier sound bites, delivering folksier anecdotes, cracking more jokes, and detonating more applause lines. McCain's superior sense of showmanship could prove important in a debate, not just to journalists but to audiences as well. McCain displayed another skill of enormous value: seizing his opportunities on live TV.”

“John McCain looked too perfect. This could only be the result of blatant cheating.”

“It is now clear why Barack Obama has refused John McCain's offer of joint town hall appearances during the fall campaign. McCain is obviously better at them. What took place instead under Warren's precise and revealing questioning was the most important event so far of the 2008 campaign -- a performance every voter should seek out on the Internet and watch.”

“Barack Obama embarrassed the entire Democratic Party. We are doomed! Now we’re going to be sucking Republican dick for another four years!”

“McCain clearly won Saddleback. In an unusual setting, his experience overwhelmed Obama.”

If we take away Barack Obama's education, he stands naked in terms of accomplishments.

Those are actually some pretty shitty presidents you got there.

Jackson and Polk are famous assholes and racists who started wars just for shits and giggles.

Lincoln started a war that nearly destroyed the country and then mismanaged it to the point it took an extra four years and half a million American lives.  And was apparently a dick to boot.

Washington wasn't really the president, Hamilton was.

Reagan either wasn't really the president or lied his ass off about his massive breaches of the Constitution and pretended to not be the president.  He also ran the economy into (what we used to call) massive debt for no other reason than to give massive tax cuts to rich folks.

And Truman pretty much invented the Cold War.  Thanks Harry!  And while it ain't Harvard, Mizzou Law School ain't bad either.

It is worth noting the two greatest presidents (by a damn site), TJ and FDR, both went to preeminent institutions.
