The world of government isn't as hard to get in to as you might think. You can find distance learning schools to get your degree in Public Administration from one of many prestigious schools such as University of Phoenix.

McCain's age and my age

John McCain is too old.

So as you all recall, McCain is getting owned by Obama in almost every demographic in the polls. But remember the one that Obama is really destroying him in? Of coooouurrrsssse... young people. And the press asks "why".

Why? I will tell you why. He can identify with me on nothing. I am almost 22 and a half. When John McCain was my age there were only 48 states! I use the internet everyday. He has never used a computer! I am in some debt because I took out a student loan to help pay for college. He was born into wealth and fortune. I care about the environment because I have to live in it for like another 60 years or so. Johnny probably has 15 years left so why should he care.

And of course the Obama campaign and the MSM for the most part are afraid to just come out and say he is too old to be President because they are afraid to offend old people. I am not ranting against old people. I'm just saying that you can't please everyone but you can at least compromise. Putting a 72 year old in the white house isn't exactly splitting the middle. John McCain has almost been alive longer than Pluto was a planet! When he was born, stamps were 3 cents! Most of us don't use stamps anymore!

By the way I can't wait to see how the press covers John McCain's 72nd birthday in three weeks. "He is 72 years YOUNG!!"... Who knows, maybe he will be eating cake with George Bush during a crisis again.

48 states... Pluto... Come on America! We can't keep living in the past! I mean we can try, but the past sucks compared to the future. I hope.

Being 21 I see your point, but young people always vote dem(if we get off our asses to vote at all) so its basically assumed.

Don't talk about religion or politics, my ass!

Get the hell off my lawn!  I hope the "youth vote" sticks with Obama after finding out he is not the leftie dream candidate. I think idealism sometimes gets in the way.  A vote still has to be made, even if only against McCain.

The movement exists, but it is a far sight from "huge".

I just called and asked Steve Doocy and he had this to say.

The first part of his response didn't make sense but by the end I figured it out.

This is way off topic, I know, but: you kids - why is all the music you listen to SO BAD?

You're old. Hardy har har.

Though my favorite band is Queen, who was popular before I was born, so I'm not the person to ask.

Don't talk about religion or politics, my ass!

and I still listen to popular/alt rock these days.  There are a lot of excellent, more recent acts... Death Cab, Gomez, Band of Horses, Grand Archives, Head Automatica, The Killers, Kings of Leon, Muse, Arckid, etc. etc. etc.

Someone new ALWAYS has something good to offer.  Don't let yourself get jaded.

Of course the age thing isnt what swings me on whether or not to vote for McCain but it is something that I think deserves more attention than pressure gauges. It is not age directly but out-of-touch-ness that I think is the meaningful factor. That affects my thinking about the candidates more than almost anything else. When I listen to McCain speak about the war, unemployment, energy, and the American people in general, I feel like he is summarizing a kids' book on the subjects. Everything is simpler in the McCain world. "I know how to win the war in Iraq." Bullshit! Like where did he get that notion? Obama is always explaining what is really going on like with the offshore drilling. Then again, he caved on that issue. sigh...

PS. most of the music played on the radio these days sucks. Get an ipod and some friends like Jarret. Muse rules.

Yes McCain is the same age as my grandparents and with age usally comes more knowledge.  I dont seem to get that impression from McCain.  The ads I have seen these past few days just proves that fact.

With age also comes cognitive decline and dementia.

I love that statement dude. We'll throw a party when you reach the milestone. Seriously, I don't hold McCain's age against him. I know some pretty up-to-date septuagenarians, so McCain has no excuse for having never touched a computer. He's just pampered. And let's face it. Maybe a little incurious.

He's only 5 years from the average lifespan of a male in our society (not 15 as you alluded to), and he's already battling skin cancer, so in that sense you're right to be concerned about age. The guy's a dead man walking.

Life expectancy at birth for a man in the US is about 77 years. But if you make it through infancy and you don't drive drunk and/or like a madman in your teens, then you can expect to live a bit longer. Life expectancy at 70 years old is about 13 more years. Not that I'm hoping one way or the other.
