McCain 2000 vs. McCain 2008

Who can tell me how John McCain is different now than in 2000?

Now, hold on, before you start going off on me for not paying attention, let me explain why I am posting this.

I have a friend who is a Republican (but he's still a friend) who is probably going to vote for McCain because he voted for him in 2000.  Yes, I know this is typical voter ignorance, but since he is a friend of mine, I wanted to help him out by explaining the difference.  Unfortunately, he believes I'm somewhat biased and for good reason.  So my question REALLY is - does anyone know of a good non-partisan source that could explain clearly the differences between McCain's views in 2000 vs. his views in 2008.  Something clear and contrite for the simple minded members of our society.  I just don't think I'm doing the dialogue any justice.

Share this with your friend, it's an article Cenk wrote for Politico on this very topic.

It's good because Cenk starts off by explaining that he voted for McCain in the 2000 primaries (which should help bring your friend's guard down a little).

But if your friend is a racist Republican (which is very common) seeing the name "Cenk Uygur" might lead him to dismiss the article, insane but true.

PS---If your friend STILL wants to vote for McCain, share these 3 facts with him. Or if you prefer, use this version.
