U.S. oil exports on the rise

From Reuters: May's gasoline exports were almost double year-earlier levels, the most for May since 1945 when America was providing motor fuel to other countries toward the end of World War II.

Why isn't this being reported every time the news media covers the "drill here, drill now" bullshit that the Republicans are chanting as their new mantra?
The oil companies already have drilling leases they aren't using. They just want more leases, so they can have more control over supply and larger market shares.
Even if we did let them have more offshore rights, assuming they actually decided to start drilling, it's not going to stay here.
As Cenk has said, we don't get the oil, the oil companies get the oil. And they're exporting it in record quantities.
