Desperately "swatting flies"

Have you noticed that we've been seeing these kinds of headlines a lot lately?

Suspected U.S. drone attack kills 5 in Pakistan

It's obvious what they're trying to do.  I've been wanting them to do it for a long time now.  The timing of it is infuriating though, isn't it?  For all of their talk about being "tough on turror" and their nauseating pretense of unquestioning undying love for their country, they have waited until just before the election to make an active and earnest hunt for Bin Laden.

I guess they had forgotten about him till now.  Who knows?  Why the hell wait 6 years to do this?  Why not pursue him from the moment he crossed the border after the botched Tora Bora operation?  Back then the whole world would not have been surprised.  They were prepared to see us follow through after 9/11.  They were expecting it.  He would have had to scramble for places to hide among a population that would have been nervous as hell to have him hiding among them.  I remember well how quickly, how frantically most of the terrorist groups spoke up denying any connection with the attacks.  They knew damn well what was coming.

Look at the situation now.  With half the world probably wishing behind our back that we'd get hit again, after giving Al Qaida a full 6 years to establish contacts and hideaways and a network of support among a population that has bubbled in a slow cauldron of resentment for all that time we finally start looking in earnest.  In this kind of environment they decide it's time to start striking at every rumor, collateral damage be damned.

Even the pursuit of the worst mass murderer in American history is a matter that must be timed politically for these people to act.  They do nothing unless politically motivated to do so.  They are very much like the Soviet communist party in this respect.

makes me so burning mad.  I have noticed.  I also notice that whenever they kill civilians, as recently happened in Afghanistan, the subsequent investigation always lasts just long enough so that when the results come back confirming that the US military had bad intelligence and killed a bunch of women and children because of it, it's not news anymore, but buried.  People need to realize that war kills innocents as well as the "bad guys."  That is the reason it is used as a last resort.
