Liberal Hollywood Does It Again: "Eagle Eye."

I really don't want to give too much away because I encourage every one of you to go see the movie "Eagle Eye" on your own and love it as much as I did. I've come to the conclusion that writers of Hollywood movies are not only geniuses, but they are also politically savvy and up-to-date with recent political issues such as FISA. The movie's central theme was basically how disasterous it is to have computer systems that collect personal and private information about us through telecommunications (i.e FISA.) Of course it was fiction and gross dramatization. BUT IT WAS FREAKING AWESOME. Go watch it. Shia is sexy as hell too.

... "At the Movies."

I'm surprised. It doesn't look that good to me, but since Ana and Ben are coming over the top on it, I guess I'll see it.

I've been DVR'ng them.

I wish Ben hadn't recommended it. Why? Because according to Rotten Tomatoes it was pretty bad with a 27% rating. The RT consensus was "Eagle Eye is a preposterously plotted thriller that borrows heavily from other superior films".

Oh well, he mostly gets them right, and maybe 73% of the critics are wrong on this.  I'm sure it's a fun summer popcorn movie. Er, fall popcorn movie.

At any rate, everyone, make sure you watch At The Movies! Set the DVR or check your local listings, it's one more than once over the weekend.

and my pop culture-junkie friends are raving about it, largely because of Shia.

Ana's stamp of approval is the final straw!

Assuming I, you know, can somehow grab any money at all in the next few weeks, since my job doesn't start until November.

for as long as there has been Hollywood.  Watch Paul Newman's sidekick, Robert Redford, in the 1975 movie:  3 Days of the Condor.   It's all about the oil Lebowski.

that an allusion to FISA was even made in the DARK KNIGHT.  The whole ending almost seemed like one big reference to wiretapping, and the ethical questions behind spying on people.  Although, I have to admit, eagle eye looks like the matrix crossed with enemy of the state, and I don't know if that's going to make it "good" or "cliche".

Ah, movie was ok, its fun to watch actors grow up, like 3 years ago this kid was on even stevens acting like a fool.

Eh...not this movie. A damn fine popcorn movie, lots of thrills and chills, good action...but enough plot holes to start a cemetery...

Worth watching, DGMW, some of my favorite movies require tremendous leaps into suspension of reality. I understand that at core level.

Also, I keep in mind that my own obsession gives me a much, much wider perspective when it comes to movies. Not a slam, just an obvious fact given her age and my devouring as many movies as I can - crap or no.

Go see it (if you can't download it...), buy popcorn, and enjoy the ride, but Sidney Lumet it ain't.
