Bailout disconnect

. . . where was all that concern, focus and recognition of crisis for main street?  There is such a mismatch.  Americans were going down and there was apparently no crisis.  Apparently WE were no crisis.

We hear all the squawk coming from the TV and the government about the urgency, the necessity.  You see all the attention paid and the angst.  Wall Street, wall street, wall street.  They also mention in passing that it is necessary for main street (I think of that more as tokenism and lip service).

But the anger people feel in their gut comes from the foggy realization that something is wrong here, some disconnect.  Here's where it comes from.

You see the nation come to a stop and totally focussed on this issue and it is supposed to be good for us here on main street.  But where was all that concern, focus and recognition of crisis for main street?  There is such a mismatch.  Americans were going down and there was apparently no crisis.  People losing their jobs and houses and health care and pensions, going into debt just to buy food and gas.  Apparently WE were no crisis.  I wonder how much was lost in assets from us regular Americans?  No one lifted a finger.  No one stayed in the Senate or House for an extra minute over that.  How many billions were they going to set aside in projects to employ and help "we, the people"?  I missed any action directed to us.

God forbid that the big CEO titans of greed miss their tens and hundreds of Millions in bonuses and golden parachutes.  But they'll extend their hand down to us so we can kiss it while they take the treasure of our nation.  Let's not call it the treasure of our nation, let's call it what it is, the money we all paid in from the sweat of our brow, so that we could pay for the necessities we all have in common.  But these conservatives consider any money given to the government to be theirs.  And they consider any money the government pays out for our common welfare to be socialism.  They begrudge every dime.

If it's war, OK.  But don't help anyone, don't give a thought to helping "the people".  No health care for children.  Let public education crumble.  Social Security for seniors, I guess they should all go into the forests and starve.  These people have no moral or Christian values.  They are only giving lip service because they can manipulate people with them.  Wake up, America!  You are being plundered.  Not by barbarians riding on horseback this time, but by pale, overfed white men who feel that the emptiness that is their lives can only be filled with more money and power.  What ugly, miserable, empty souls.
