JOHN McCAIN was a P.O.W.!!!!

Thanks, I just finished watching the speech.  Wow... I think I'm really clear on that point now.  So what's your plan for America?

I laughed my ass off at that.

His whole speech sucked.  He acted like he was talking to kindergartners.  I wanted to pull up a carpet square. Then again, I guess they all kind of talked like that.

Yeah, two most important requirements for being qualified to be President and VP are being an ex-POW and raising a down syndrome baby, oh yeah and you have to have absolutely no judement. Amazing how people can be so stupid! I can't even imagine Palin as President when McCain kicks the bucket, and I thought that nothing could happen to put us in any worse shape as having Bush in office. I believe Palin can and would be worse than Bush.  Congess had better go after these repugs (Rove, Meyers, Cheney, Gonzales) now before the American people forget how corrupt they are and put them back in office. No one should ever forget how the republicans have run this country into the ground. All through the RNC I heard that Washington needs to change and how bad it is there. Why isn't anyone bringing up the fact that Republicans are the ones who have been in power for 7 of the last eight years. Because Dems took over congress for the last year it's being framed that it's all the Dems fault. We have the chance to crush the party of corruption and no values once and for all.

Funny thing is even under this absurd definition, Palin is not qualified.  She hasn't raised a kid with Down Syndrome.  The kid is five months old!  She plans on raising a kid with down syndrome but she hasn't.

Even when we mock this woman's lack of qualifications we overstate her case.

Beauty Queen?  Nope, she lost.

PTA President I hear some people say?  Nope, just a member.

Raised a Down Syndrome baby?  Not yet.

Pathetic.

It seems a fit scenario for a bad made-for-TV movie, but please, not in real life.

Or was that the lamest, least energetic, most boring, tired recycled, worst delivered major political speech you have ever heard?

It was terrible!  I almost died trying to stay awake while driving home in the car and listening to it.

The networks should sue McCain for the dollar value of that hour of broadcast time.

He slurred his words, couldn't read the teleprompter, missed the rhythm of almost every single sentence and had to start over.  He sounded like he had never even seen the speech he was reading.

He stepped all over almost every applause line and didn't seem to understand the jokes.  It was a shockingly incompetent display and by the end I was just sad for him.

He looked confused and weak.

For a guy who has admitted to being obsessed with being president for at least a decade how the fuck was he so unprepared for his nomination speech?

The speech was so bad it made me worry about his health.

Am I alone here?  It was terribly delivered and just a caricature of every Republican talking point of the last 30 years with some POW and "across the aisles" generic bullshit thrown in.

"The Democrats will raise your taxes but I won't, I can't even raise my arms."

God, it was boring.

I think he will REALLY fail in the debates, because sure, you can practice, but there still may be surprises and I don't believe McCain thinks on his feet too well.  He is hasty, but that particular personality trait might not sit that well with Americans.

His speech was devoid of substance other than his POW story and vague references to a brighter America.

I really think the whole thing was crafted to have Americans react to McCain on an emotional level in a way similar to how they view Jesus.  McCain was tortured for America (crucified) and now we have a chance to put Jesus front and center in the White House.  It struck the "compassion" nerve in Americans, but in a strange way.  A lot of these people talk the talk about compassion, but I don't see it in their actions.  How many of these rednecks actually volunteer in their communities?  Going to church and praying for the poor doesn't count.

TWBA and Ken love to mock Obama for not being as spectacular without teleprompter.

Did you see last night?  Can McCain read?

I've seen high school student council presidents that make McCain look like one of Howard Stern's Wack Pack.  That was McCain WITH teleprompter.

He sounded confused and a little drunk like he had prepared for a totally different speech and they switched it without telling him.  Is it possible he had a stroke?

If the John McCain from last night is the guy that shows up at the debates, it won't really matter if Obama has a teleprompter or not.  The man I saw last night barely seemed to know where he was.

I am stunned no one else is talking about this.  I guess the MSM isn't in the habit of saying people gave embarrassingly bad speeches but c'mon.

Do y'all disagree?  Am I being too harsh on the old timer.

FYI- My kids who watched it were extremely enthusiastic in expressing their opinion that McCain was excruciatingly boring and looked old as hell.  (and all I would say was, "Did anyone catch McCain last night?  What did you think?"  That was all.)
