Mr. Pandit,
I am writing to congratulate you and Citibank on a quick recovery from the financial industry’s recent turmoil. With today’s news of your imminent purchase of a $50M corporate jet, I feel confident the $45B infusion which you received from the federal government was precisely what was needed to put Citibank back on its feet. I am quite pleased that my tax dollars could play such an integral role in your success through these troubling times.
Now that you are, once again, enjoying a comfortable position, I’m sure that you are intending to repay those of us who helped out. I understand that the $700B investment cost every man, woman, and child approximately $2,500. Around 6.43% of that investment was made in Citibank. Therefore, the cost to me was right around $160. Having fought, and survived, through this recession, I’m sure that you can appreciate how important it is that I receive that money as quickly as possible.
I am enclosing a self-addressed, stamped envelope so that you can return that money as soon as possible. If you prefer, you could, instead, apply that money directly to the Citiassist student loan which I am currently repaying. The account number for my loan is as follows: XXXXXXXXXXX.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Again, congratulations on all of your success.
Sincerely,
John Hancock
