Some perspective on Alan Grayson's righteous stand

Alan Grayson apologized to the dead and their families in America, because of the results of THIS STUDY recently published by Harvard which concludes that 44,789 Americans die every year because they don't have health insurance.

44,789 per year. That's 122-123 every day. That's a lot. And it's all in the name of industry profits, and the politicians those profits have bought. Let's put that into perspective.

2976 people died in the September 11 attacks (hijackers not included as they don't count as people). That's more than 15 times less. In the three years following the 9/11 attacks, terrorism killed 2929 people worldwide.

THE HEALTHCARE INDUSTRY KILLS FAR MORE THAN TERRORISTS

93,325 - 101,841 civilian deaths and 4,262 military service deaths in Iraq, since the 2003 invasion. Using the higher estimate, that's a total of 106,103 people (not including other coalition or iraqi combatants). That's over 6 years ago, the healthcare industry kills more in 3 years. That's half the time!

THE HEALTHCARE INDUSTRY KILLS MORE THAN WAR

According to the same Harvard study, Nephritis, Nephrosis, etc... (Kidney disease) kills 42,868 American's every year, and is listed as the 9th leading cause of death in America according to the CDC that's 1921 less than those killed by lack of health insurance.

THE HEALTHCARE INDUSTRY IS THE 8TH LARGEST KILLER IN AMERICA

It's about god damn time someone in Congress made this strong of a stand! I hope upon hope that this is only the beginning.

THE HEALTHCARE INDUSTRY WILL KILL 123 PEOPLE TODAY

Who will be the next member of Congress to step up to the plate? Stand and deliver for the American's you represent man!

a holocaust to me. Which make the obstructionist accessories to murder. One thing is to stand around and do nothing while your neighbor’s family is raped and murdered. But doing nothing so you can help load up the getaway car and grab a few pieces of silver is just sick.

Didn't kill all those people - disease, circumstance, chance and fate did - calling the lack of government subsidized insurance a "holocaust" is irresponsible and shows the Liberals utter desparation to pass their unwanted agenda...

But 65% of the american people do. So keep your ajdectives to yourself.

There is no way giving affordable health care to people who don't have it and may die from not getting treatment is wrong. Get over it,

But a big majority of the public DO want it (and they probably know it isn't government subsidized either).

That's the whole point of the study,
"Uninsurance is associated with mortality.",

"Numerous investigators have found an association between uninsurance and death.",
"...Americans aged between 25 and 64 years die annually because of lack of health insurance",
"Our objective was to evaluate the relationship between uninsurance and death."

Sure, the autopsy results aren't going to say "the cause of death was a lack of insurance", because that's not the physical cause for death. But the reason for that physical cause of death isn't fate, or chance (the study also took into account how many people from the sample had good health insurance and died from the same causes) It's all right there in the study.

This was the final conclusion, "Lack of health insurance is associated with as many as 44789 deaths per year in the United States, more than those caused by kidney disease (n=42868). The increased risk of death attributable to uninsurance suggests that alternative measures of access to medical care for the uninsured, such as community health centers, do not provide the protection of private health insurance. Despite widespread acknowledgment that enacting universal coverage would be life saving, doing so remains politically thorny."

They do mention one limitation in the study however, these figures are only applicable to those who could not get health insurance, the figures would be higher if taking into account the effects of sporatic insurance (people who had health insurance that was taken away).
so, if you add in recision THE HEALTH CARE INDUSTRY KILLS EVEN MORE THAN THE STUDY SAYS!!!

Calling it a "holocaust" is a conservative tactic.   I thoroughly enjoy watching them kick and scream when someone does it back to them.   It's fun watching the little blood vessels bulge in their foreheads.

Does it bother you bobo?  How's your blood pressure?

Contribute to Grayson's 2010 campaign. If all of us contribute a buck or two to Grayson's 2010 campaign it will make the press similar to what happen with "Joe the Heckler"

I'm from Florida so I set up for $20.10 a month. We need as many Dems, especially Progressive Dems, as we can in Florida.
